This chain door lock can be unlocked with key from outside or inside of the home. This lock engages by allowing the bolt to slide into the keyed mechanism to lock, and it uses a B1 keyway, ilco (1098M).

This chain lock is very nice. I installed using longer screws, applied glue to the screws before installing. I understand that with enough force, something could definitely break through but I feel less vulnerable opening the door to a stranger and speaking using this chain.

As i wrote above, it does very well what it has to do. I only bought it from Amazon.ca and I'm not selling it, so I don't have a photo of it. You may need a proper screwdriver (I think you can find more about that on the Amazon site since I'm not an expert on tools and such like). Over all, it could protect you from intruders who may have a key to your dwelling, such a too inquisitive land lord. If he forces his way in, at least you'd have a proof of that.

When you leave an apartment for the day, you usually have no way to use a chain for that little extra security, especially if you live in a building where they have your key. This is a great solution as you can lock the chain and reopen it from the outside. It is very solid and I had a worker install it using larger and better screws. You can install it yourself but I do suggest using proper largest possible screws for your molding type. Measure the height you want it as well as the clearance and distance from the chain to the lock before you install it of course. Very clever that the change has a place to put the catch if you are in and not using it. You can use this from the inside keeping it locked and using the other side of the chain to latch and unlatch. Good solution.
