at first i thought it was fake when i opened the package, the cover was prince of persia the forgotten sands but it says its the sands of time.i tried to boot it on my ps3 but it said it was not compatible with it, then i thought to myself " bootleg discs would show as a regular dvds on a ps3, this wasn't the case on this disc"then i tried booting it through my laptop and surprisingly it ran!! i spend like 20 minutes playing to check if it was an actual bootleg (which had a bug after finishing the first puzzle) but i went through it just fine.it's a shame i didn't get the original cover as i wanted it soo bad. but i guess it would do for now...

Love the game. Best of the series in my opinion. The quality of mine was great. No skips or freezes. Does what it's supposed to do. No complaints. Came fast, and did the job as well as you could ask.

I would rate it as the best game for PS2. Challenging, but anyone can play it. I would recommend it to everyone.

The first time I played a Prince of Persia game was probably sometime in the late 80's or early 90's on Windows 3.0 OS. Yeah, that was ancient! The graphics were horrible, the game play confusing and the action buttons not too efficient. Could barely get him to jump. A good 20 years later and we get "The Sands of Time." I was never a big fan of action games, but I was pestered into playing this one by my little brother. At first, it took me a good 15-20 min or so to get accustomed to the controls but after a bit, it was second nature. The game play, although sometimes a little glitchy, was indeed fun. Dodging and blocking are essential to this game. The voice acting surprisingly good. I especially liked the voice cuts when you die. "No, no, no ... that's not what REALLY happened." And you start over from the last check point. Dialogue was well-written and witty. Story was easy to follow and exciting. It was like participating in a movie. Although somewhat linear, it does allow you to do some exploring and secrets hunting. And yes, there were secret walls and secret items. Love those. This was time well-spent with the fun attained, especially for an RPG gamer as myself. Although the sequels to this was a bit disappointing, this game definitely has replay value. I haven't played the new sequel "The Forgotten Sands," but I hope they went back to the game play of SOT as this is officially my favorite POP game of all time.

Prince of Persia: the sands of time is the greatest game ever made. It keeps you playing for hours and still wanting more. I could not stop myself from playing this game. I would find myself staying up till two in the morning, not even noticing until I glanced at the clock. The story is so great that I won't spoil any of it. Only that the Prince must embark on a quest in which he must use the power of "the dagger". The dagger is an ancient object that holds the powers to control time. Yep, that's right! With this you can: Rewind time (for up to 10 seconds), Slow down time to half speed (for a limited "time" of course), Freeze enemies in time (very useful in combat), and fast forward through time (this one actually makes the Prince go at a fast speed, but not the enemies). But don't worry hardcore gamers, there is a limit to the powers of time. The powers of the dagger are controled by the "sands" within. But if the sands run out-no more time control. That's why those handy "sand clouds" are there to refill the sands. The Prince is as well accompannied by a mysterious girl "Farah" on his journey. The character development is so great between the two throughout the game. I can't desribe the enourmous enviorment of the city of Babylon. There is really superb platforming as you climb walls, swing from poles, and dodge the many traps hidden in the castle. So what are you waiting for? Buy this game! If you are any kind of gamer, you will love it!

I am playing the game right now and I have to type meanly on my keyboard. To get started I loved the 2D prince of persias and for that I started playing this expecting a lot. My first impression was that this was a great game, the graphics are beautiful and the moves are cool. But that is the end. there are so many horrible parts to this game I could never get to them all. worst of all though are the camera angles. this game had so much potential and they completely ruined it. COMPLETELY. half the time the view is shifted so that you cannot see yourself or the important action going on. next, you have to protect this obnoxious (...)that does absolutely nothing but get in th eway and get you in trouble. in short i wish i could have loved it but I really hate this game and the only think that keeps me playing is the need to finish it so I can throw it away.

The Persian Sultan is invading India and the Indian vizier is helping him, simply to become more powerful. Secretly, the vizier wants the sands of time, which are locked in a huge hourglass in the Indian king's treasure chamber. He also wants a special dagger that is the key to open the hourglass. But during the siege of the city, the Prince of Persia finds the Time dagger first and keeps it for himself, and the Sultan keeps the giant hourglass. Naturally, the vizier is not happy. The basic premise is the vizier tricks the Prince into using the dagger to unleash the Sands of Time, which change every person in the place, including the Sultan, into some sort of sand zombie. Only the Prince, the vizier, and Farah, a captured princess whose kingdom was attacked by the Sultan, survive. The rest of the game is spent trying to undo this curse, collect the sand back into the hourglass, and kill the vizier responsible. This game, in terms of playing, is incredible. The story is simple but I found it to be very engaging. The graphics are the best I've ever seen and the game plays out like an enchanted tale. It has fighting, puzzles, and a little computer-animated movie all in one. The developers of this game have really put a lot of work into this gem. The Prince has many acrobatic abilities - He can run on walls, vault over enemies, fight multiple opponents, and control time itself. Death in this game is not the end...simply reverse time and try again.Although it sounds straightforward, this game can be very challenging. At first, it sounds like the ability to go back in time whenever you screw up would be too easy, but the rewind ability has a limited range and takes time to recharge. And if your dagger runs out of power, you have to start the level all over again. You can also freeze enemies with the power of time and get hints in the clairvoyant visions the Prince gets at the save points. The environments are beautiful and richly detailed. Tapestries move as you walk past, water ripples, you hear different stepping sounds to what kind of surface you're walking on, and dust falls from the decaying walls of the huge palace that you find yourself trapped in. The palace is extremely large and has many areas to explore. The movements and interface are flawless and smooth. The music is a sort of techno heavily laden with Middle Eastern flourishes and mythical chanting vocals. Everything moves with gorgeous fluidity, most apparent when the Prince is fighting. The enemies and his female companion, Farah, look about as real as a video game can look and move with the same sort of smoothness. The initially complex controls quickly become instinctive and the game is forgiving with the ability to rewind to fix that mistimed jump after spending 20 minutes getting up somewhere then only to miss a ladder because the camera angle changed without warning. The fights are laid out in between puzzle solving, so you don't get bored. The puzzles all involve things like jumping, pulling levers, pushing blocks, swinging from poles and dodging deadly traps. This is perhaps the best video game I have ever played, but there is just one thing that prevents me from giving this a 10: the ending.(Serious Spoiler ahead)At the end, the Prince takes the dagger and finally plunges it back into the giant hourglass, recalling the Sands of Time and undoing everything that has been done...and erasing everyone's memories! It turns out that the whole game has been in the form of the prince sneaking into the Indian Palace and re-telling the girl the story because she doesn't remember. Of course, she doesn't believe him. Bummer. Then the evil vizier shows up and tells the girl that the Prince is a threat and he will deal with him. The final battle starts between the vizier and the prince, which is extremely easy considering it's the "big battle".But that's not my problem with this game.My problem comes AFTER you beat the vizier - afterwards, the girl admits that the vizier was evil, and that she owes the Prince her life, but says that she still doesn't believe the story the prince told her and asks him why he would tell her "childhood fairy tales". Then, just to add insult to injury, the prince tries to kiss her, and she slaps him away. He sighs, then presses the "back up" switch on the Time Dagger, backs up to the point where he kissed her, then doesn't this time. Instead, he shrugs his shoulders, tells her that the story he told her was a child-like fantasy, then leaves to go back home to Persia. When that happened, I found my face growing red with frustration as I stared at the screen. This is it? THIS is the big finish, the big reward for our hero?! To get slapped in the face by his girlfriend, who now doesn't even remember him? In fact, no one in the entire game knows or believes what the Prince did. All that trouble, all that money spent on the game, all that fighting and jumping and reversing time, and no reward or closure. The ending leaves you with the feeling that you did all that work for nothing. The hero does not get laid or even kissed in the end, or for that matter get any kind of prize. All you get is a slap in the face and the satisfaction of killing the man that's caused all this. That's it.Still, despite this game having a horrible ending, if it were not for that single flaw, this would be a definite 10. By all means, Prince of Persia deserves all the hype it gets, and despite some minor flaws, they should not clash greatly with the player's enjoyment of the game.9/10

To briefly summarize my opinion of this game: DO NOT BUY IT. Rent it, for sure. But do not go to the store and shell out nearly $50. First of all, as others have pointed out, the game is fun yet simple. There isn't a whole lot you can do, especially with regards to fighting. You can obtain a few time-manipulation abilities, but for the most part the fights involve pressing one or two buttons over and over again. The only thing to challenge you is that some of the few attacks work against certain opponents but not against others. The real fun in the game, though, is in the acrobatics. Again, these are not very complicated, but there is a lot of joy to be had in simply watching the Prince's motions and controlling him through the puzzle-like levels. The big problem with this game is that after about 7 hours of enjoying the level design and tolerating the tedious fight scenes, it's over. I felt pretty stupid for purchasing the game after finishing it so quickly. The one redeeming thing left to mention is that you can unlock the original Prince of Persia.
