Received an oily gun with the finish flaking off in areas. Instructions indicated 36 to 70 psi and 6.9cfm air. Not the 28 to 51 psi and 1.5 to 3.5cfm advertised. Will return.

Like this spray gun. Thought the fan pattern a little short.

This is a really nice 1.3mm nozzle Spray Gun. I have zero issues with it - in fact, at this point - it is a bit more than I can handle. Apart from technique in terms of spray different finishes on different surfacers, there are three adjustments that can be made. Finding the correct settings so all three work in concert together, was - I have to admit - a challenge. But let me stress, that's not the guns' fault! It is mine as a first time spray painter.I have used air tools for years, and I have rattle-canned countless projects over the years. Metal, wood, plastic and such. But never got around to trying to use a spray gun.The fit and finish on this unit - the R500 - seems very high. I could find nor burs, sharp edges, not anything mechanical. All adjustment screws worked smoothly and held their place while the gun was in use. I was trying with very light viscous finish, cut with some extra water. (Yes, it is water based and it was thinned out to about 10%) I decided not hit anything I am working on right now, so several sheets of cardboard serviced as my "project". It did take me several minutes to finally figure out the correct relationship between the pattern, the needle adjustment, and the air flow. But I did get to a setting that I am happy with, and that's what I will start with next time.I would recommend to beginners like me, to keep a book in order to remember the various adjustments that need to be made with different finishes. Thinks like ambient temperature (air and object), viscosity of product to apply, compressor settings - although it seems that as long as you are in the 60-115psi range, you adjust more with the gun than the compressor. So, gun great! The manufacturer even throws in some extra bits to help with cleaning up, but I have to say, I do hate those stamped multi-tools that you are given. Yes, I suppose that if you are missing something, these things can save the day, but I just find them crude to work with, and usually with a number of burs and nicks that can result in small cuts into your hand. I would prefer not to receive them...Bottom line - I think this is an exceptional spray gun that can produce excellent result, once you understand the relationship between the various setting the gun can make. The gun is nicely finished, feels good in your hand, and there is nothing that rattles or says "cheap". As a first gun - or one of several - I don't see how you can go wrong with this unit!

I'm always on the lookout for tools I can use in the shop. The Nasedal R500 spray gun has been an excellent spray gun for various tasks. So far I've used it to apply water based varnish and clear coats for wood working and I've tested it with a few different types of paint.I tested it with some very thick paint and it did have a bit of trouble, which was expected, but adjusting the airflow and thinning the paint a bit made all the difference in the world. As long as you get your paint/finish consistency correct, tune your airflow it works very well.Construction seems solid. with an all metal body and some anodized parts. Threading is accurate and there arent any rough spots on the finish. You get (almost) everything you need with the kit to get going except of course for the air source. In addition to the trigger unit, and the paint hopper, included is an instruction sheet with a fully labeled exploded view of all the parts. From the manual it does mention ordering replacement parts but there is no contact information in the manual. So that's weird. As well, included is a single piece flat stamped multi-tool "wrench" for helping with assembly and disassembly. A wire cleaning brush, an extra little internal filter. In regards to your hose connection, I'd suggest you get yourself a quick connect with a ball swivel joint, rather than using the included straight threaded hose connector as it'll help you keep your hose out of the way much better. The quick connect is also much better than a permanent threaded air source connection.Overall this is a well made kit if you're looking for a sprayer to add to your home shop. I wouldn't consider it a pro level kit but it'll definitely do the job if you're looking for something for occasional use.
