Description
The Raspberry Pi Pico is a microcontroller board based on the Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller chip. It has been designed to be a low-cost, high-performance microcontroller board with flexible digital interfaces. The Raspberry Pi Pico features two ARM Cortex-M0+ cores run up to 133MHz; 256KB RAM; 30 GPIO pins; and a broad range of interfacing options. This is paired with 2MB of onboard QSPI Flash memory for code and data storage.
In addition to powerful hardware resources, Pico has rich and complete software support and community resources. It comes with a complete Rasberry Pi official C/C++ SDK, Micropython SDK.
Pico has been designed to use either soldered 0.1" pin-headers (it is one 0.1" pitch wider than a standard 40-pin DIP package) or can be used as a surface-mountable 'module', as the user IO pins are also castellated. There are SMT pads underneath the USB connector and BOOTSEL button, which allow these signals to be accessed if used as a reflow soldered SMT module.

This is the real deal, beware of knockoffs on AliExpress. Very accessible board for learning to program/work with hardware. Many applications in home automation and an excellent option for RGH3 flashing on Xbox 360 (picoflasher).

Unfortunately, despite the price, it does not come with headers, which while did not affect my use-case, could pose a problem if you intend on using it on a breadboard and the like.Other than that, it worked perfectly when I used it, and I don't really have much else to say about it.

I used this with HHL gamecube adapter firmware to make my own so my son and I can play super smash bros with GC controllers. I had to modify the source code to use different pins, but the pico microcontroller took it and worked well. I even 3d printed GCN sockets and a box for the project.

I love Raspberry products. When they released the Pico I HAD to have one. It has all the GPIO, PWM, I2C, and serial connectors you could need. My ONLY gripe with this device is no built-in Wifi, which kind of eliminates the Pico as an IOT device. An ESP32 is half the price, twice as fast, and has Wifi built-in. My hope is that Raspberry comes out with a version with Wifi and drops the price. Apart from this, its a great little device.
