I'm big on spares, as I live and travel on a sailboat. There's nothing more frustrating than being stuck in the relative-middle-of-nowhere (or way offshore in a passage) and needing a part.The impeller (paddle wheel) is what tells the electronics how fast the boat's moving through the water.Even in the days of GPS speeds, I want to know how fast we're going through the water; the difference from our speed over ground (GPS speed) is how much we're aided or held back by current. Yes, I'm that kind of geek, despite never having raced any boat let alone my home.The impeller comes with a new axle, in case yours has become worn, and O-rings to keep the water out of the boat. You should lube the O-rings with the same stuff which comes with either a marine toilet or raw water pump rebuild kit, or, if you don't have that in your spares, some pool pump or O-ring-specific teflon grease (buy at any pool supply store or from Amazon, which sells several varieties); the plug (for when the impeller/speed unit are out of the through-hull) and speed unit will not only both come out and back in more easily, it will assure a smooth fit to keep water out of the boat.Our boat actually had two such instruments, so a single spare sufficed after I'd renewed them both...

Ordered 2 wheels for 2008 gti seadoos. Both worked perfectly. Was a little concerned if sensor was working-after I installed, I put key fob on and spun wheel and worked perfect. Have some silicone available to re seal component.—not sure what gaskets are for? I didn’t need them

I HAVE TO ADMIT I was pretty impressed at how quickly it was delivered and to install the unit took no time at all and worked with no issues.
