Since this appeared to be a new model, I was skeptical of purchasing it due to the lack of reviews. However, now that I've had it installed in my camper van for almost 3 months (DC-DC only, no solar), I'm glad I chose it and it works great!- The charging output is indeed 40A, just as advertised. That being said, I have noticed it will drop to as low as ~30A if the engine has been idling for 30+ minutes. This seems to maybe be in response to lower idling voltage from the alternator but I'm not entirely sure. I've only observed this while idling though; otherwise, if the vehicle is actually driving and putting out full voltage, the charger works at full capacity.- The voltage cutoff works properly and ensures the charger stops charging when the vehicle engine isn't running. I have not experienced any battery drain from the vehicle battery.- The device is very compact.- As with most devices of this kind, it can get very warm to the touch during prolonged use, but surprisingly it hasn't gotten overly hot. I've taken the necessary precautions during installation but the level of heat it generates does not have me concerned about burning or creating a fire.- The connection cables come bare so you'll need to do some extra work to connect them to your system. Renogy provides some crimp connectors but I didn't use them and instead installed dual-pole (Anderson) connectors on the input and output cables. This has worked well for me; it was an extra expense but definitely worth it in case I need to quickly remove the charger from my system.Overall I'm very satisfied with this charger. It keeps my van's 200AH LiFePO4 house batteries topped off at all times, and doesn't run too hot.
