This steering shaft is equal in quality as the original Ford part and a perfect fit. There is no way to predict how long it will last. The fact that these shafts have no grease fittings or a means of lubricating them is why they fail. You can buy ones that are more expensive but they're all the same. There is no way to lubricate them. The U joints get stiff from lack of lubrication which makes the steering very stiff. Many people spend a forture replacing power steering pumps and rack and pinion when this shaft is the problem all along. No, I was not one of those unfortunate people. Being a mechanic I was able to correctly diagnose the problem. My truck has 120,000 miles and hopefully this shaft will last as long as I own the truck.
