any time you have the opportunity to capture your children's attention, seize the moment. As a 50 something with 5 & 8 year old duo that will most certainly be the end of me, i struggle to keep most things. attention being the segway to learning, has been captured. i purchased steel drums, bongos, 16 inch darbuka and this lovely 10 inch darbuka. our garage concerts need a bit of fine tuning before hitting the percussion tour. that time spent with my children learning, doing and teaching is priceless in a multitude of ways. i hope your darbuka experience is just as special.

OK, it tunes, is small, is real metal and that's about as good as it gets.Sounds horrid, had a couple of dings out of the box, but as a toy...not bad.

Great little instrument. The only reason I give it a 4 star is because the aluminum shell came with 2-3 small indentations towards the bottom. Pretty sure does not affect the tone too much, but they are there. Also, I was expecting a 10" batter/head. My bad for not reading the description wery well but that does not affect the rating. One last thought...Not sure I would say it was suitable for ages 1-4. The aluminum rings and screws seem a little too rigid for younger kids. Wish there were some kind of plastic or rubber protection for the top ring and/or screws.
