When I went to Texas to photograph the eclipse this spring I had a lot of trouble seeing the LCD screen on the back of my Olympus OM-1. Someone next to me had one of these little buggers and it really worked to cut down on the glare, making it easier to frame the sun. A few weeks ago I was trying to shoot a waterfall in full sunlight using a 10-stop ND filter and had the same problem. So I decided to get one of these to see how it works.It works fantastically well. It is also simple to put on and take off your rear screen. Finally it fits all of my Olympus cameras, both the E-M1 Mark III and the OM-1, both Mark I and Mark II. Worth every penny of its reasonable price.

I use this on a Sony FX30 which doesn't have a viewfinder. It slides onto the LCD screen easily and folds up small in my bag

I use this on a Sony FX30 which doesn't have a viewfinder. It slides onto the LCD screen easily and folds up small in my bag. It works well when the LCD is large enough to see the image I want to capture and there is not too much glare from all directions. It's easier than bolting on an external monitor. There are situations where I need to use an LCD magnifier hood instead.

This is a very convenient, (since it folds flat), helper to have when you have a flippy screen on a bright day. It is easy to add some shade and help you see what you are doing. If you have no EVF, get one of these.
