The larger diameter shock tube is superior to the factory damper and is designed for the additional stress and requirements of an off-road vehicle. The oversized 2" body and 5/8" hardened chrome rod allow for a heavy duty upgraded premium seal to prevent pressure loss. An integrated dust shield protects the shock rod from high impact salt and sand damage.

After 35” tires and a 2.5” lift I noticed my jk was wandering from side to side when driving on the expressway. After installing this stabilizer it completely went away. Only took about 30 minutes to install. I would highly recommend.

My old stabilizer was shot so I started showing around. This product was a bit more expensive but Teraflex has a good name and it features an integrated dust boot which is useful for me here in Ontario's salt-covered winter roads. This stabilizer works for both TJs and JKs, but I'm only covering the TJ since that's what I have.Install was simple: remove the old stabilizer (bolts on each end of stabilizer) and the link pin. A new link pin washer, nut, and castle nut and cotter pin are included, but you'll need to reuse the nut and bolt for the other side - fortunately mine were in good condition.Instructions are provided, along with metal bushings inserts (there's another bag of hardware for the JK install which I can't comment on).Overall, the entire operation took less than 30 minutes, with a good portion of that related to fitting the torque wrench onto the nut on the top of the link pin due to interference from the crank pulley. The new stabilizer feel much tigher than the old one and steering has firmed up a bit.

The stabilizer shock corrected 3 issues for me:1) The steering required less input at highway speeds, as it became slightly firmer. The degree of focus required to keep the jeep on the highway is no longer like that required for 24 hours at Le Mans.2) There is less slack in steering linkages, so less noise on uneven or washboard surfaces. The constant clanking was driving me crazy before, and no doubt hard on the steering components.3) It helped reduce bump steer as well. The only time I noticed bump steer was when I changed lanes and the tire got caught in a pothole changing the direction more than desired. An undesirable effect of the 9550VSS steering stabilizer is that it will take more effort to turn the steering wheel. The stock stabilizer made it extremely easy to turn the wheel. A few weeks after the install, the steering was easier to turn but still great for highway speeds. This steering stabilizer is a great upgrade to protect the front end from excessive movement and the resulting wear, and it will allow you to take your eyes off the road for a half-second to change the radio without fear of heading towards the ditch.

I installed this stabilizer on my 2007 JK Sahara Wrangler with 115,000 miles on it. I have a 2.5" lift kit and larger 33" tires on the rig since about 10,000 miles. I was experiencing death wobble that seemed to be showing itself more and more as time went on. So I did the front track bar bolt replacement (to larger bolts, no drilling required!), search for "Jeep Wrangler JK Track Bar Bolt Suspension Upgrade Kit" on Amazon. That fixed the death wobble but I still had pretty bad bump steer on the roads, the worse case being between about 40 and 50 mph.Once I got the old factory stabilizer shock off, I quickly figured out the factory one was shot!! It looked fine but once off the Jeep I could feel that the resistance / damping was not there with any significance, I think the fluid was mostly gone inside the shock is how it felt. The Teraflex was firm throughout the stroke and I could tell before I installed it that this was going to make a difference.Since I have a 2007 Wrangler, I followed the directions and removed 1.5" from the dust cover. This was easy enough to do by marking with painter's tape and then using a utility knife to cut it off. I also used the painters tape along the body of the shock so I could mark the extremes and find the center for proper installation. My Jeep did not need the tie rod bracket to be modified / shaved in any manner. I did move the bracket more towards the passenger side by about 1" to accommodate the center point of the new Teraflex shock. No big deal, that is in my case 4 nuts that a 13mm socket easily loosens up. I took my time with this and the time for the install was about 1.5 hours. The steering quality over bumps on the road now is so much better!! Thanks for a great product Teraflex!!

Good build quality.Simple install but wheel side bolt is difficult to remove.Stiffens up steering compared to stock.Helps the wheel from jumping and wandering (a little bit).Note: installed on a 2016 JKU w 2.5" lift and 35s.
