The noise floor is much lower than other compressors, it is a beefy sound in contrast to something that might provide jangle, and there is no 'pop' so long as it is in buffered bypass. Very useful but not an 'always on' for me, which is a good thing- when I engage this guy I want to go somewhere different in my playing, not just sweeten everything. I enjoy the absence of attack and release knobs and love the parallel dry mix. I don't even care that it is digital since it is noticeably better than the compressors in my Quad Cortex. If there is latency it isn't enough to complain about by itself.

Great for bass. Gives the note a nice smooth bloom. Excellent choice if you’re looking for an optical compressor.
