Replace these anytime the water pump comes off. You will need 2 of these pesky seals. I usually give them a light coat of silicone grease to help ease installation. Make sure to check the plastic connector behind the water pump too. If you aren't sure about its condition, replace it too. These Jaguar/Land Rover engines use a lot of plastic and it brittles with age and heat cycling.
