Works great on a Tesla Model 3 with Scanmytesla app. The gauges refresh super quickly, similar to the OBDLink MX+ at more than twice the price. The hardware pairing button prevents unwanted outside users from pairing with the adapter.Very happy with this purchase.

Dongle connects/pairs via Bluetooth, then immediately disconnects and is unusable (tested on both iPhone & Windows PC).

This is my first OBD2 scanner and I have no similar tool to compare it too. I decided to order it because I own two 20-year old vehicles and in the recent past I had to take both AdvanceAuto Parts to retrieve error codes prompted by check engine lights. The V-gate OBD2 scanner is easy to use and, in my opinion, represents a good value for the money. I hope it will last a long time.

This is a review of V-gate vLinker FS Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner Diagnostic Tool Wireless Code Reader for iPhone, Android & Windows Bi-Directional Control Car Diagnostic Scanner,All Systems Diagnosis, 30+ Services.I had an issue with my car, and I was thinking it was one thing but with the assistance of this OBDII scanner, I was able to find the real problem which was cheaper to fix and actually have the issue fixed. The module easily connects to any OBDII Port. Once you plug this in, it powers up. You link it to your phone through OBDII. After that you have the ability to read any codes and reset them. With the bi-directional capability, you can easily perform several tests to check the modules are working and performing as they should. The app you must install to interface with the vLinker, is very user friendly. I have since, used it on four different vehicle and I can say for each, the vLinker and the app worked flawlessly. I was able to do all the things I needed to do with each and view raw data easily. The vLinker, and accompanying app, are a great option for both the DIYer and professional mechanic to diagnose and know how to repair the issue. The construction of the vLinker module is good. It seems to be made of quality material and stores very easily. The app can be installed on a tablet as well as your phone. Personally, I prefer the tablet. I can highly recommend this for anyone that works on vehicles. There are a few things you would need the more costly and robust systems out there, but this will be perfect at least 80%+ of any diagnosis you will need and at a fraction of the cost.

One of the standout features of the vLinker is its seamless integration with a variety of apps in the included booklet. By simply scanning the QR code, I was able to easily download and install the compatible app on my Android device. The instructions provided were clear and straightforward, making the setup process easy. After pairing the vLinker with my device and the Car Scanner app, I was pleased to see the BT and OBD lights turn on, indicating a successful connection. The device's intuitive design with a dedicated pairing button, further simplifies the user experience. To put the vLinker to the test, I used it in conjunction with the Car Scanner app on my older model minivan. I was impressed by the tool's ability to quickly identify and clear a P0420 code, a common issue with older vehicles. The bi-directional control and all-systems diagnosis capabilities of the vLinker enables you to send commands from your device to your car to quickly diagnose and potentially resolve the problem. Even if you can't fix the problem yourself, knowing what the problem is can help when you see a mechanic. This compact and wireless device promises to provide comprehensive diagnostic capabilities for a wide range of vehicles and it certainly delivers on that promise.

This seems to be a good data source for whatever app you end up choosing. There is a QR code that is on the product, but the way it was directing me made me a little uncomfortable (doesn't point to Google play but loads from another web site) so I cancelled the installation and instead went with one of the many other apps that are listed as being supported. Given that they include a list of supported apps that are available on mainstream app stores, I have no real issue with this.A lot of your end experience will depend on the app chosen. This is the interface hardware to feed data into the chosen app, so the end result is a combination of the capabilities of the hardware and the software. That said, this seems to do a good job of feeding data to the app. I had no issues with establishing a Bluetooth connection or getting it to work with the app. I went through and made the selections relevant for my vehicle and got data pouring in. There is a lot of sensors that can be read in real time with this - it will take some time to get fully familiar with that. It seemed to do a good job of reading the archived codes that were present. One thing that is a little challenging though is reading the status lights on the unit when plugged in to the vehicle, and they will only operate when plugged in. My OBD socket is under the dash and pointed down, so unless you are down at floor level looking up you can't see it. Not ideal. However, for the most part you don't need to look at the status lights anyway, so long as you get the Bluetooth connection you can see what you need to through the app.No complaints so far, although I haven't come close to testing its limits. I haven't tried writing any codes - at this point I have no reason to write anything as my vehicle seems to be mostly working fine (although some of the archived codes were a little worrisome). From what I can tell so far this will work well for my needs.

The unit itself is 100%. Very small, no cables (connects to an app on your phone, no wires). I plugged mine into my 2023 dodge ram and it just sits under the steering wheel out of the way.The unit is as powerful as the application - and it's already approved to work with a whole bunch of apps. It comes with a bunch of QR codes you can scan to install the app on your phone that are preset to work with this unit.I used the OBDJscan app (free). The paid version I guess has access to more functions. But for now, that's OK, it lets me see pretty much every sensor and diagnostic in real time. Works great, everything's obvious. But, I dropped a star because there's zero install instructions. Like, nothing. Good luck everybody! I spent 20 minutes and some time on Google figuring out how to get this to work with my phone. So.....to save you that frustration, here's the sequence:1) plug unit in.2) download and install whatever scanning software you're going to use. Ram 1500 2023, the OBDJscan app works great.3) turn car to 'run'. second click on the ignition, don't actually start the car.4) there's a tiny button on the device. Push it to start pairing.5) open bluetooth on your phone, find the device, and pair it.6) your phone will give you a code. Accept it.7) Now here's the wild part. At this point you've paired the device, BUT the connection will likely drop immediately. Turns out you need to PAIR the device, but it doesn't get CONNECTED. I had no idea there was even a difference between those two things. Anyway, as long as it's paired, even if it doesn't show up in the list of connected devices, you're fine - move to the next step. Or do what I did and repeat this step about 20 times before figuring out it doesn't need to be connected, just paired once.8) Now open up the scanner app on your phone. In the settings for your app, find the device and connect. If at any point you want to restart any of those steps, go into your phone's bluetooth devices and have it forget the device - need to start fresh.Once you've done all that, in that order, the unit and the app work beautifully. No idea why the manufacturer wants to keep the install instructions a NASA level secret, but again, there's no install instructions. If you can get over that, it works great.Ultimately I'm super happy with the device. No cables, one time install, tucks neatly out of the way and easy to use. I've wanted one for years but couldn't quite get to the point of figuring out software and cables and stuff. With this device, none of that's necessary. Plug in, pair, open the software and connect, and you're done. 2 minutes and you're watching live data on your vehicle.

Adds a lot of convenience for diagnostics. Great as a little back up system or for quick on the go setup. And for the price what’s not to love.

Works well on my Dell laptop running Windows 10 and FORScan diagnostic software. I had a cable version OBD2 interface, but I find the Bluetooth wireless interface much easier to use. The fast start instructions included with the interface allowed me to set it up in less than a minute and the ease of use without wrestling with the USB cable is great.
