This XS sight worked great to lower the POI on a shockwave. It looks good and makes the item much more usable. The supplied brass bead fit well with blue loctite and the sight was installed using JB kwick weld without issue.

I ordered this for my Mossberg 500 Persuader 20", and I have to say I love it. I'm not as in love with the price, but you get what you pay for. Quality doesn't come cheap.I installed it using JB weld, the 24 hour set 2 part epoxy. Easy installation. pro tip: plan it out in advance, and take your time. The sight is large and in charge!! Easy to find quickly when shouldering the blunderbuss. Get one. I might get one for my other barrel. 🥰

Pros:It glows about the same intensity as pistol sights. It’s bigger than most factory beadsHas white and black inset for changing environments.Cons:Make sure you are willing to be patient to set correctlyYou will need a few other tools around to install.Irreversible once setYou will need:JB Weld mix, Clamps or a vice, alcohol, a cotton cloth, q tips to clean up the bond mix once you’ve set the sight, needle nose pliers for the inset metal beadReview:I have a Mossberg 930 that came with a cylinder-like bead sight from the gun merchant. It was very low to the barrel and I would always shoot too high on the target. I didn’t want to spend 250+ on a sight like a Holosun due to the maintenance of such scopes. Also, I’m not a hired assassin, so I don’t need to spend too much on a gun. It has a job it will probably never be called upon to do. I just wanted something simple that gave me a similar feel to my sights on my pistol in the dark. The setup was easy but I made sure I checked sight alignment while using clamps to set the sight correctly. It fits solid and I see so much clearer with the sight. Low maintenance and the bead aligns in a “second nature” position once I pull from the ready position. Hopefully I will never have to use this system for it’s designed purpose. But I feel much better with this sight than anything with batteries, or that’s much smaller, or that might have electrical malfunctions.

After considering some kind of sighting improvement for my home defense Mossberg 590A1 I settled on the XS Big Dot sight. I've had this sight installed for a few months now, but have been waiting to write a review until after I got to put it through its paces at least a little bit.I have tried plain beads and an RMR before, but this is my favorite setup. It is the best of both worlds: the speed and simplicity of a bead with the easy visibility and low light capability of the red dot (at a fraction of the price). It has survived the normal bumps and scrapes as well as a full day tactical shotgun course. The small white lettering on the sight is all gone now, but the sight itself remains otherwise unscathed. Install was simple. When replacing your bead make sure the new bead fits properly in your barrel before installing it with a thread locker. As one reviewer pointed out, be sure to remove finish from bottom of sight and portion of barrel sight will affix to and make sure it is all clean and dry and free of any grease to help ensure a good metal-on-metal bond.

I decided to do some upgrades to my trusty old Mossberg 500 and one thing that always has been a struggle was finding a solid sight system for it.First I had an ATI heat shield with integrated ghost ring sights but they were made from polymer and mounted too far forward, kind of cheesy honestly. Then I attempted to modify a set of Tru Glos to work on this shotgun but sighting was impossible. So, this time around I was strongly considering the XS sighting systems Ghost ring rail with banded front night sight, which I would have loved to have but the $150 price tag had me on the fence for a 20 year old shotgun. But then it dawned on me, what good is a ghost ring paired with a night sight ? In a dark environment where your night sight would be imperative the black steel ghost ring would not be visible and possibly obscure your view of the front sight. So my best option I this case seemed to be this product. The price is right, installation was pretty straight forward and only took about 20 minutes not counting epoxy dry time and the result is excellent. The white big dot surrounding the tritium vial is very bright and easy to pick up and even as far away as the end of the barrel is the night sight is clearly visible in a dark room.A word of advice when installing , dry fit the sight and tape off around the perimeter. Use that as a grid to abrade the barrel finish only in the area needed, wipe thoroughly with alcohol before applying the epoxy, and the tip from another reviewer of using a zip tie to secure overnight was perfect. You Will Need to Purchase Epoxy for Installation, I ordered JB Weld along with the sight for another $4, worked great.I cant say 100% because I have only just installed it but as it stands now the sight is a great buy.

I originally purchased the mepro tru-dot to replace the white-dot sight that comes with the model 500a, 18.5" breach barrel, and fore-end strap. honestly, I had a hell of a time installing that bead and was really worried about this kit since their site has always said it requires gunsmithing. fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the installation was...please read on!tl;dr: I have big dots on all my handguns, xs has never disappointed, and should have NEVER thought twice before making this purchase: LESSON LEARNED!first, it should be noted that this package (now?) comes with the 5-40 conversion bead for the mossberg. therefore, IGNORE THE INSTRUCTIONS SINCE THERE IS NO NEED TO DRILL AND TAP to #6 (6-48 IIRC?). i just easily removed my previous sight and red loctite'd the bead up (yeager-style) then let it cure for 24hours.REF: If you haven't seen james yaeger's xs sight videos i highly recommend them as well.next, i drove to the hardware store to pickup some epoxy as the package didn't come with it. I honestly don't fault xs for this as I've recently started tossing their loctite from the handgun kits since i have _excess_ (again, pun intended ;) after filling all my range bags, plus the extras in the toolboxen, plus the junk drawer in the kitchen...well you get the idea.As for the epoxy brand, they recommend either arcglass gel (again from brownells) or jb weld. i briefly googling the differences before quickly settling on jb weld because the local hardware shop had it in stock and it was thursday afternoon on a holiday weekend so of course I wanted this done NLT monday! honestly, after reading it can handle temps of 550 degrees plus fahrenheit (aka freedom units ;) i figured it should be good enough; so i didn't break a sweat. While I haven't trained with this sight yet I will absolute adjust this review if this configuration doesn't hold up; but again I expect it will :)lastly, I followed the instructions on the jb weld; per xs instructions: cleaned the barrel and sight with isopropyl alcohol (91%), scored the underside of the sight ONLY using some coarse sandpaper, mixed as little of the epoxy as i could (knowing how those tubes overflow when they're first pierced :| filled the canal and underside of sight, and preessssssed...cleaning the excess (no pun intended this time ;) from the edges using a cotton swab with a little more alcohol and then let it cure for 24 hours.
