Really like the clips, but you have to watch that your stem doesn't grow so big that it pinches. Then it's back to velcro.

So glad I found this method for supporting tomato growth. These work very well and I'm glad I bought the large amount because it's surprising how often I am adding clips as my tomatoes and peas are climbing up the strings.

I love these little garden clips! For me, they are replacing a tedious and often frustrating process of cutting ribbons of plastic from grocery store bags, then trying to tie them around a tomato, pepper, bean, or pea limb or stalk with just one hand, while the other hand holds that piece of vegetation in place, all the while hoping that it doesn't break off, mid-tie. With these clips, I just have to place the clip where I think that support is needed, and snap it closed. If that support is in the form of garden twine, the hinge of the clip closes firmly on the string, securing the clip from sliding up or down out of its required position. I was hoping that this would also be the case with the wire of tomato cages, etc., but unfortunately, I was not able to coax the hinge to close over the wire. No matter how forceful my coaxing became, the clip did not break, it just slipped off the wire. This means that there will be times when the clips will have to be re-positioned, as plants grow taller and bushier. But doing that is still much, much easier than trying to tie everything in place with bits of string, or strips cut from plastic bags. Opening the clips is surprisingly easy: just press on the little tab that sticks out from the latch, and the tab acts like a trigger, causing the clip to spring open. Initially, the clips did not impress me as being very sturdy. They are made of a clear, light-weight plastic. But in getting used to them, I have had to use several clips repeatedly, and each continues to perform as well as those that are fresh from the bag. If they are not walked on, run over, or mixed in with the dog's chew toys, I think that they will be good for at least several years of gardenig use. In fact, by the time I do eventually have to replace them, I expect that the newer model will be able to grasp wire supports as well as this current model grasps string. I really love these clips.
