Take a magnet… they do have a steel core… and they are heavily plastic coated.Easy assembly. Many combos one can make.. triangle, square; long, short.. so easy! The pkg makes a lot of shorter versions too… great value for the money.

You don't have to put them in a triangle shape. I have 5 cherry tomato plants I planted in a rectangle container. The triangle shape shown was way too big for container so I put the stakes in 2 rows, in front and behind the plants. Make sure you print off instructions from the product description Now time to wait and see how this works out during the summer

As other reviews point out, this product is being falsely advertised. The poles are in fact pure plastic with no metal components. This kit is 100% plastic and I'm not sure how sturdy it'll be with larger vine produce on it. I guess we'll see how the summer plays out.

The kit is really flexible in that there are a number of parts so you can customize the layout. However the steaks are plastic not metal but this isn’t an issue as they are very solid.

These are the typical vegetable support stakes you see, except you can connect them and increase the height as the plant grows. Assembly is very straight forward and no brainer. In less than 2 minutes you can assemble a complete cage. I made a square cage and a triangular cage just to test it out, and I still have more unused stakes. I think I like the square cage better as square seem to be more stable (less wobbly), I will try to find some connectors and perhaps connect these short ones to my older longer stakes at home, and create a more “sophisticated” cage for my tomato plants. These stakes will be strong enough for baby tomatoes, which is what I intend to use them for. But if you are thinking of using them for large size tomatoes, I am not sure if they will hold up because they are short pieces connected together so they will not be as strong as one solid long stake. However for my purpose they will work fine.
