Had a problem with the buttons on the original Ford remote but everything else worked fine so I removed the guts and put this case on and it works like a dream!

The original fails when there is no connection between the pressure on opening doors and the main electronic brains in the fob. I need the top part where the control markings meet their contacts. In this product, the contacts are attached to the back of the front cover. I had another product from Amazon where the contacts are just a strip of electrodes floating between the covers. The covers closed poorly, and the strip was lost. I am happy to get this product that fits nicely, and the electrode design is stable; I use the original back with the Ford logo and original key.

I was about to return this item because there were no instructions on how to use it. I also removed everything and just replaced the motherboard, it did not work. Then thought to look at other the reviews. A couple of people mentioned they changed everything and kept the old back cover with the new fob. Once I did that it worked, however the starter didn’t which means we might have to program it. That’s better than paying $300-$500 dollars for a new fob. We are purchasing another one for our other fob. This is a huge win!

Product would have been 5☆ if not for it missing the metal piece that connects the battery to the chip. Should say it does not include this main piece. The fob is useless unless it comes with the small metal connector. So if you have the chip, this fob does not include all parts for a quick swap. If you just need a faceplate sure. But it should include the small metal piece that sits in the battery well

The most important thing to know about this, and other similar versions of this fob available on Amazon, is that this is only to replace the damaged exterior shell or rubber buttons of an OEM case. It does not include the electronic internal circuit board and, as such, can’t be used as a second fully functioning key fob. Otherwise, it looks suitable as a replacement for the exterior case only. It does come with a (hidden) metal door key, but you’ll need to take that to a locksmith to have it cut to match your original key. And this (hidden) key can’t be used to start your car? It’s just a convenience key to open your doors in emergencies. I needed a replacement fully functioning key fob for my 2012 Ford Edge, but the only place to get it is through the dealership, and that’s a CAD $550 hit ($135 for the metal key blank + $60 for the key cut and fob programming + $355 for the new electronic fob). Now this seems an utterly ridiculous price for such a small and simple piece of electronics, but you just can’t get a third-party aftermarket key fob anywhere for any price!

I got this very quickly and fits a Ford Focus 2012 key fob. This saved us $320 from taking this to the dealership and replacing the whole thing and getting it reprogrammed. Works well!
