I used this auger to help me dig holes for 6 potted emerald arborvitae. Chucked it into my heavy D-handle drill and it powered through the soil. Like any auger, it can be deflected or slowed down by roots or rocks, but I had no trouble backing it out. I did have to finish clearing the hole with post hole diggers, but the dirt was finely chopped and was quickly removed. I'm really satisfied with this auger and look forward to using it for posts and other planting.
