Product Description

AURSINC MMDVM Hotspot Board - Practical Case

aursinc mmdvm
Can't connect to the board? If the Raspberry fails to connect the hotspot board, please try update the firmware of the hotspot board. The command is” sudo pistar-mmdvmhshatflash hs_hat”. More info pls view: //amateurradionotes.com/pi-star-notes.htm#hotspotfwupdate
Unable to get it to work? Please test whether the hotspot is working through this link: m7spi.co.uk/mmdvmcal/
Where can I download the logs? In the configuration - log, you can view and download logs to identify issues.
Did have to remove resistor R1 To get this to work on a Pi4, did have to remove resistor "R1" or cut the pins on the Pi like the listing mentions? -When the product is powered on the SVC light does not flicker, it may be necessary to remove R1 in such cases.
Can transmit but not receiving Please try working without an antenna, or replace the antenna and compare the results. Test whether the hotspot is working through this link: m7spi.co.uk/mmdvmcal/
Lift the restrictions? Any way to remove restriction so I could access full range of frequencies supported by MMDVM? - Update Custom fw to support More freq, pls visit github mmdvm_hs
Can't access the device? Issues: There is a solid green light on and a flashing red light on. I looked for pi-star on my wifi on my computer and my cell phone, it is not there. - Please kindly try to change a TF card. Or you may need to reflash the TF card and redownload the TF card.
VHF isn’t it’s strong Point VHF is not an optimized frequency band, trying VHF only works best with a long VHF antenna.
Follow: pi-star/192.168.50.1 Downloaded the Pi-Star Pi OS image and followed the instructions to setup and configure. Pi-Star OS (Raspbian integration MMDVMHost, Serial of DMR/YSF/P25/D-STAR/NXDN/POCSAG gateway serivces , Pi-Star Dashboard) When you finally do connect to a DMR group you have to press the radio's PTT momentarily to make the hotspot register the connection and allow you to hear the DMR group conversations. Note: The OLED display on this board is "OLED Type 3" in the Pi-Star configuration menu.
Connect it with Pi 4 Since our mmdvm board is defautly setup for Pi-Zero W, Pi 3. If you do want to connect it with your Pi 4, you could try below methods. PICK ONE. Method 1: Remove the R1 resistance of the hotspot board (single/dual) ; Method 2: Cut off the 2 Raspberry Pi pin headers on the corners of the board ( pick one to operate on your MMDVM board, refer to the product image for the R1 and 2 pin headers locations)

Great little board. Purchased to replace an aging Openspot 1 and to give my pi some life again. Using on a Pi 4 and no issues, did not have to remove R1 resistor. Ships with FW 1.5.2.

I hooked it to a PI3B and bang it worked perfect. I moved it over to a fully decked out PI5 and it worked perfect (no mods required). In fact I ran the WPSD calibration and found that it was already on the best setting as delivered. Very happy with purchase!

No problem with getting it going. Easy upgrade to the latest firmware too within pi-star...no having to mess with soldering jumpers or other crap. My offset had to be set at -225, which I suppose isn't too bad; but there are newer boards out there that have a zero offset out there.

I already had a D Star hotspot, but I wanted to get one for DMR. I found a video online showing how to set up Pi Star with a Raspberry Pi and this board. It was simple, and has worked perfectly. I have used it a little on D Star, but primarily just used it on DMR.I sometimes wish I had bought a full duplex model. It can be hard to disconnect or change talkgroups if you're on a busy DMR group like 91.

I gave in to the urge to buy a digital radio even though I live far from any repeaters so I needed a hotspot. There is such a large selection of pi hats for making the hotspot so I researched and bought the AURSINC as I have some other products from them and they have always been good.I had a Raspberry Pi 3 on the shelf collecting dust so I decided to jump in. I wish I had done it sooner. I installed the Pi-Star image on the Pi and configured it. Pretty good. Then I came across the WPSD image, and Oh My Goodness! It is so good! I can see activity including names, callsigns, and countries so I can track who is active at the moment. Click on the callsign and it pulls up QRZ.com to log the contact. Couldn't be much easier!
