After not even using the usb programmer once but plugging it in to see if it worked. I left it unused for a while and all the sudden it stopped working. No power light, no nothing. I recommend buying a seperate programmer to go with the chip holder.

Cable has out of date firmware easy enough to update to use this with Megacore and Arduino. You will need a USBtiny with the larger header or another Arduino to use as a programmer. To upgrade firmware. Works fine without updates but will throw warnings. You need a 5v power source to power the chip programmer brings 5v to the connection but it's not bridged to the switch on the zif board (most likely to save on two diodes to 'or' the 5v from the barrel jack. ) you have to plug in the chip so the power light comes on in order for the programmer to work. There is no regulator on board the barrel jack is wired directly to VCC on the chip this needs a 5v supply for atmega32 (or whatever your chip uses for VCC) if you plug in a 12v it will 100% fry your chip.
