The product is exactly as described — solid build, well-packaged, and works perfectly right out of the box.

It is a very nice tiny PCB with an excellent camera. With an ESP32 S3, it has more power than the original ESP32-CAM.Good with dual USB-C, OTG & regular, allowing a lot of fun. This is NOT a perfect replacement for ESP32-CAM, so don't expect premade projects to work out of the box.

I have not used this yet, but have used other ESP32's - This has what I need.

Bought 'similar' board before needing this one, because those were bad, couldn't be programmed and didn't have the advertised memory (four out of four failed!)This board of Freenove looks great and clean, not only documented well, but also comes with a complete course to get you started 🙂I will be revisiting here 👍🏻

This didn't immediately work for the no code platform I use (esphome) but I reached up to the support email inside the box and they were able to get me set up immediately. Camera is a little bit fuzzy but to be expected within the parameters of what I'm building. I would recommend based on the support resolution.

UPDATED: So I bought this for testing rather than for a specific need, so I had a lot of time to play around with it. Here are some of the things I discovered, when trying to get this working with Home Assistant and ESPHome1) it will work with ESPHome and HA, you just need the correct configuration. I've posted a documentation request with ESPHome Documentation to include my configuration, but it is still awaiting approval. In the mean time, my configuration is posted on the ESPHome Forum, just search for:Esp32-s3-wroom-1 N8R8 (Freenove) camera board with PSRAM working2) It does not work in low light or with the use of IR LED spotlights (but it also doesn't say it does, it was an assumption on my part). The sensor of the camera has a built-in IR cut filter, so unless you want to modify the camera sensor, it won't work in low light areas.3) If you go to the trouble of defining sensor, selector, and/or number components for the Camera Component, they show up nicely in HA and can be used to build dashboards. My forum post includes my full YAML config with all the sensors, selectors and other components I got working.4) It is NOT possible to switch camera resolution on the fly. This is not a limitation of the device, it is a limitation of the implementation of the Espressif ESP32 Camera library used by ESPHome and ESP32_Camera.Overall. Once, I got a working configuration, I was pretty impressed by what I was able to build with this little ESP32 Cam board.

This microcontroller is extremely versatile and great for any at-home or at-work project(s). However where it really shines is in the fantastic customer support from Freenove. They are very knowledgeable and quick to respond. The sample code examples and detailed documentation makes working with the microcontroller very enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Don’t forget to enable the PSRAM in the Arduino menu, otherwise the camera will not be configured at the maximum resolution.
