I bought for a UV5RX radio, the item fits the radio perfectly, replacing the battery. It powers on just fine in the truck using a 10A lighter plug. But when I key the mic, my radio goes dim, and I cannot transmit. The package is plastic welded so not easy to open, I feel that this has a voltage divider inside vs a regulator (UV5R needs 7.4Vdc, the vehicle is of course 12-13Vdc), a regulator would keep the voltage constant. It could also be real small wires, but even at 8W, that is 1A, 18G should support that. I will take it apart so see. So using this as a battery replacement for scanning or listening is fine, for transmitting, it does not work on my UV5RX. VA3 SXO.

This product, honestly is not worth the money. When its plugged in and attached to the radio, the power is on, BUT !!... When you try to use the radio it POWERS OFF!! IM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT.
