A C. B. Gitty original, designed specifically for cigar box guitar builders! The miter box created from this kit allows you to cut perfect fret slots in your cigar box guitar necks and fretboards. Only a screwdriver is needed for assembly (no glue required), and only takes about 15 minutes. This miter box jig was designed by Ben Gitty Baker specifically for the standard 1.5-inch-wide 1x2 cigar box guitar neck and 1.5-inch-wide by 1/4-inch fretboards.. Narrower stock can be cut (shimming recommended), but wider necks will not fit. This miter box is cut from premium 6mm Baltic birch plywood and assembled using 36 screws in pre-drilled, pre-countersunk holes.
This kit comes UNASSEMBLED and requires a compatible thin-kerf saw to use. This automatic depth stop feature of this miter box is designed to work with our Fretting Saw, and will likely not work with other saws. A spacer piece is also included (not shown in the photos) as a shim for cutting slots in 1/4-inch fretboards. The saw shown in the photos is for demonstration purposes only.
These kits are cut and packaged here in the C. B. Gitty workshop in Rochester, New Hampshire. As with all laser-cut items, one side of each piece may have some staining left over from the laser-cutting process. This does not affect functionality of the tool, but can be sanded off if desired. Because this is a wooden miter box, over time the saw guide slot may widen, causing the tool to become less accurate. Steady, careful sawing can help prevent this. Replacement panels may be made available if demand arises.

I liked the engineering. However I would really like to have one just like it for a dulcimer fretboard up to 2 1/2" wide.

To start with this is exactly as described and went together very easy. I used a screw driver thinking that a power driver would be over kill as the instruction told me I should use a power driver. The value? my personal opinion is it's over priced and if I hadn't already used it I would return it. I just don't feel as if I got $35 worth of value.I do have to say that cutting the frets on a ukulele neck was quick, easy and accurate
