Did not work in my 2003 Toyota 4 Runner because it does not have hand grips in rear.

The item works as it should. It obvious you might need to modify based on your veichle or your gear. It's up to you to get creative and make it suit your needs. No need to bash it or complain. not every product is a perfect fit. I got up to a 10 foot rod looks like I can fit an 11 as well. On an expedition el xlt. Is clearly not meant to hold penn senators or bulky reels and rods. Max i say is size 7500 maybe 10000 but you might need to drive normal and not wreckless otherwise get take and secure the clamp firm. Make it make sense if that's your gear, you need hitch rod rack or something custom

Bought this item to replace my old RODMOUNTS set-up that had a broken mounting point (replacement parts no longer available). The quality and construction of this item surprised me, and I am very happy with it. We put this in our Nissan Armada, and it fits and looks great in the vehicle. Holds all of our fly rods securely, and they stay in place! Excellent clearance between roof and the rods - they are tucked up high enough so that is doesn't interfere with the driver and passenger headroom in the vehicle. Great price and quality product!

I read really mixed reviews of this setup and I think it comes down to how smart you are and how much head clearance you have in your vehicle. These thing are stupid simple to setup. it only takes a 1/4 turn to secure it in place and you want a more solid mount (no bouncing) then just add a couple of zip ties on a cross pattern and they aren't going anywhere. I actually bought the clips to an additional 2 rods and I have 6 fishing rods setup in my 4Runner (2 8' surf rods, 2 7' inshore, and 2 6'6" ultra-lights and they are totally out of everyone's way. In my wife's Corolla, it worked nearly as well but 4 rods was a bit tight and you had to be careful when you got in and out not to hit your head. This is not going to work perfectly in every car, but if you have over head clearance this thing is the bomb. Our rods are so out of our way that we leave them in or car all the time.

Love the concept. Be careful with measurements or it will not fit. Bought as a gift but had to return.
