It came pretty early, which was super nice, but the box was kind of jacked up. I had a spare ps2 box, so i was fine with it. The game and manual where fine, but if that's a deal breaker, then take heed.

I like the darker aspects and atmosphere of this game, but the gameplay feels kind of dull. It seems a little depressing that it takes places all in one big castle, and the story really isn't very heavy if at all. I thought the lack of character depth, plot, etc. would be made up for by the gameplay but it's only mediocre at best.Bottom line: If you like games with a heavier story, this isn't for you.

No doubt this is a tremendous piece of game even today it provide great fun, the style, big bosses, wide range weapons, combos, among other good things it have a remarkable motion work behind, for example compare to the relative new and great God of War series DMC have a superior motion sense experience, the moves appear all natural what ever Dante do, I don't know for sure but i think it is motion capture rather than programed moves so Dante looks hell great while kicking those evil hordes and its big bosses. This game is the redefiner of the action and the fun it provides today years after release is the better prove, and to the question about if it is or not the best of the series to date? I like a lot all the other sequels and prequels bu I wouldn't doubt about the quality of the original one a single bit.I recently purchased to play it on an PS3 on LCD monitor and doesn't looks like in SD TV but when the game play start I forget about HD which would help more when cinematic scenes appear so I would look Trish better :P.Devil May Cry highly recommended!!!

I do not understand all the praise for this game. Not only is their little to no plot (except for the one they throw in at the end to give you some kind of closure), but this so-called action packed action thriller slows down the action with these missions that have you scratching your head."Why do I need this orb?""How come I have to open this stupid door?""Why the heck am I doing any of this at all?"I asked myself constantly why each mission was so important when the game was giving me absolutely no reason for any of it. I tried to enjoy the action but was caught up looking for items or trying to open doors to reach the next level. Some missions are so short, literally all you might do is run and open a door and a mission is over. The action would feel more intense if you were forced into most of your fights but if you wished you could simply run away from at least half the battles. The bosses were pretty cool but the motivation really wasn't there.Who were these people to you?Why do they want you to die?If they wish to make this a real action game, forget the 'resident evil' style puzzles and just do a 'final fight' type style where you just have to fight your way to the end of a level.I just really wasn't all that impressed. It was really short and since their was no plot I felt nothing for the main character or the villian for that matter. It was over before it began. It was like a summer blockbuster movie, with no plot, not as much action as promised, and too many special effects. A very underwhelming experience of a game. I'm glad it was cheap.

I got this game last week after reading several reviews on Amazon. I popped in the game, and I was instantly glued with the opening scene. I'm usually not a huge fan of action games, but this one is awesome. In the game, you play the character of Dante who is the son of a demon who saved the world from the devil 2,000 years ago. Dante is half-human, half-demon. He is met by a pretty girl who flies from the sky named Trish who gives him the task of defeating the devil once again as his father did. The game starts from there, and it is instantly cool. The graphics are great, the music is good, and the game play is fun and challenging. The enemies are not easy to beat. They come at you in groups that require moving and some speed along with slashing and shooting. That is one of the coolest things about Dante, he not only uses a huge sword (and gets an even cooler sword early in the game) he also has some guns to blast away his supernatural enemies. If you get an enemy alone or in a group of two, (you don't want to do this when there are other enemies around you) Dante can use his sword to toss the enemy in the air and shoot them as they come falling down. There are other abilities like the ability to change into a demon which recharges some life and adds new skills to Dante's repertoire. He can learn new skills and get items by trading in the red souls of demons he has killed which is another interesting addition to the game.I have thoroughly enjoyed this game so far and have found it pretty challenging in parts. I think this game is a must buy for any gamer!
