The “very good” condition is a very broad description. The game was very well packaged and protected when I received it. From that front, it was great! The game case was complete, with the disc and the full little manual that came with the original game, which was also great! The case was a little dirty/grimy and the disc was a little dirty as well (print marks, etc.). However, since it was a gift, I was able to grab a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and clean the case and then the disc. Looked and felt much better and marks I thought were scratches on the disc, went away. The game functions great and no issues so far! All in all, great buy!

Tekken 5 is where modern tekken truly started to shape up, and its nice to look back and see that this masterpiece is where it came from. I highly recommend it

The case was pretty beat up but not to a terrible degree just some knicks here and there and adhesive from removed stickers. The disk was in a similar condition it had a few small scratches around but notthing so signifcant that it would cause the game to freeze

Love the game but it had a hard time getting started. I cleaned it a few times and reset the ps2 also. However, it did eventually play. I just wasn't a fan of the struggle involved.

Let me get this out of the way; I have previously owned all of the Tekken series from 1 through 4 except for Tag Tournament. I hated all of them. I thought they were boring, had poor graphics, and a very shallow fighting engine compared to the Virtua Fighter series by Sega. The Tekken games were admittedly much more accessible to a new player than the complex Virtua Fighter games, but I much preferred Virtua Fighter. I decided to try Tekken 5 anyway after seeing some videos on You Tube. After playing it for several days, I must admit this is not only a tremendous improvement over the rest of the Tekken series, I feel it seriously competes with Virtua Fighter 4 Evo. I will happily play either one and I have greatly enjoyed both of them, albeit in different ways. The characters in Tekken 5 are very well thought out and very diverse, offering something for everyone. I don't normally like mixing the futuristic with the traditional, and this game includes both types, but they really pulled it off in spite of this. This game includes some of the coolest characters and moves ever seen in a 3D fighter. The backgrounds overall are exceptional. This game looks very good in either the 4:3 or 16:9 video modes. The music is also very well done. Unfortunately the goofy unlockable characters like the fighting bears and the boxing kangaroo are back, but they are done so much better than in previous versions that I really don't mind that much. I never cared for the Tekken Bosses in earlier versions of the game. I felt many were poorly done and were absolutely ridiculous, pretty much bringing a mediocre game to an even more mediocre conclusion. Devil looks much better in Tekken 5 than in previous versions and moves a lot faster and more fluidly. The end boss was also a pleasant surprise, a challenging and very cool end boss and a big improvement over most of the previous ones.Namco has ripped off just about every character and background in this game from other fighting games, including the Virtua Fighter series and many of SNK's 2D fighters. However, they did such a great job in the process that I don't really consider this to be a negative.Overall, this game looks and plays great, is a lot of fun even in 1 player mode, and has very quick and smooth gameplay. The control is excellent, and the fighting engine is much more advanced than its predecessors. Tekken 5 is a masterpiece and any fan of 3D fighting game should consider purchasing it. Even Virtua Fighter fans should find plenty to like, as it is a massive step forward for the series.

Written by my teenaged son, approved by me:"Tekken 4" was almost insulting. It was somewhat unbalanced, particularly with Christie Montiero, and it had the lowest character roster in the series to date. The interactive environments weren't too great, either. But Tekken 5 fixed that with a roster of over 26 characters, extensive customization, more interaction, and some extra balancing to boot!Story: 9/10 - To be frank, Tekken games have not been famous for their stories. Of course, in this game, it is interesting to get the backstory of the Devil Gene, and you get to find out how some of the new characters link to each other.Gameplay: 10/10 - Unlike Tekken 4, the environments show some interaction, although it's nowhere near the workings of Tekken 6's multi-tiered levels. The roster also allows you to utilize even more new styles than anyone knew were in Tekken, and brings back some old favorites (Asuka Kazama's style is almost identical to Jun's from Tekken 2).Characters: 10/10 - Fighting games in general have not been famous for characters, with several notable exceptions *coughGuiltyGearcough*. Tekken 5, however, actually does several things right in the character department, giving the characters unique motives, quirks, and relations to other characters, some generic, some interesting. In any case, it also does a good job of illustrating them in the mid-story cutscenes, which a lot of fighting games don't always do.Fun: 10/10 - Despite some imbalances, this game is pure fighting game gold, with unique modes preventing players from getting bored. Not only that, but the customization system provides some variety, and variety is the spice of life.Overall: 39/40 - My only major gripe with this game is that Dark Resurrection adds more to the story department, and I don't own a PSP (but soon will), so I can't play it. This game is near genius, with the only flaws being few and far between. And it sets up the stage brilliantly for Tekken 6. So if you don't have a PS3 for Tekken 6, or a PSP for Dark Resurrection, but have a PS2, and enjoy Tekken, this is your best bet.
