I've only used these heaters for over 20 years now. They are built solid and fully submersible. I have one in a turtle tank with a river rock bottom and he bashes it around constantly and not so much as a scratch on the glass. Highly recommend.

Wow best heaters I have ever owned! Durability and design. Temperature control is great and spot on.

So I've had this in my turtle tank for about 3 and a half years so far and the only issue I've had was that the suction cups lost suction after about a year. After replacing the suction cups with some aftermarket ones there have been no other issues. The low water protection is nice and I can confirm it works since I accidentally left it plugged in during a water change once and it survived. 200w seems to work perfect for the 100 gallons of water that I keep in my tank. Definitely recommend this heater! Very consistent temp!

Bought a second to run two heaters but in the meantime one 150w is heating my 75g turtle tank. 70f ambient temp with a mini split in the winter in Canada. 78f tank water. My temperature dial is way out of calibration and the calibration correction won't slide over enough to compensate. Took some adjusting but it holds the water temp right at 78f steady. I've also noticed some condensation on my 4 year old 150w heater. Eheim has said this is the sealant used and the heater is under vacuum so if it leaks there will be puddling water inside of it. Verified to leaking voltage and continuity with a multimeter.

Spent forty bucks. Its german, its extra tough. This aquarium heater is easy to set up, well made, and the longest lasting heater Ive ever used. It has lasted me 4+ years with no issues. Awesome value!

Have custom made tank. 6' x 2' x 2' = 150 gallons. One heater is getting it done. Suction cups degrade. Not purchasing new ones. Just standing on the gravel now.

I have 7 eheim jager heaters running at the moment on 7 different tanks, and they all keep the temperature steady. It may not be accurate to the dial setting, but that doesn't bother me. What's more important is reliability and consistent temperatures. Eheim is one of the oldest and most reliable aquarium product brands for good reason.

Jagger heaters are a go to heater.I have been using these for over 5 yrs and there have been no issues with them. They are highly reliable heaters that are quality made. They do require calibrating from time to time but that is very easy to do and there are detailed instructions on how to calibrate. I have only needed to calibrate maybe 1 time a year, if that.the only down side to these heaters is that they are very long so for smaller tanks or all in one tanks, they may not fit vertically.

The two Hydor Theo 300W heaters I had suddenly became sporadic in heating my 100 gallon freshwater aquarium a few weeks ago. These heaters were about 5 years old. It turns out when I removed them from the water I saw that one of the heaters had burned out (blast mark on the inside glass tube). So I decided to try these Eheim Jager models since the feature of the recalibration function seemed like a good idea and majority of the reviews I've come across have been positive. I ordered two 300W heaters to replace in kind.Well, when they arrived they were packaged in a very long narrow box. Turns out the heater itself is very long, heater itself is almost 20". As a result it cannot be placed straight vertical in the tank like the previous Hydor. Also, on the box there is a list of what capacity of tank each model of heater wattage can support. In this case the 300W supposedly supports 159-264 US gallons. Normal rule of thumb for tropical heating is 3-5w per gallon. Because of the size of the heater alone I was going to just use one, which I did for the first few days. However, the heater seemed to struggle with maintaining the desired temp of about 80°F, even with the recalibration settings. Heater seemed to hold steady @ 78.3°F (make sure you have an accurate thermometer!) and I could not get it above this. Defective heater? Hard to say at this point. So today (May 10) I decided to add the second heater which I was originally going to keep as a back up. I set it to 80°F and have not made any calibrations to it yet. I will see about resetting the first heater once I get I new temp reading.[update, May 20]: with both heaters set to approx. 80°F the water temp is holding at 80.4°F. Fish are happy. As for the quality of the heaters, they seem durable and the power chord is nice and robust, albeit a bit on the chunky side. Glass tube seems to be very impact resistant. The suction cups will be questionable as most in a submerged setting never seem to hold their grip over time. The plastic temperature dials are a tad tight to adjust. It takes some effort and can't easily be turned when the heater is mounted to the glass under water. Any adjustment I've had to make has to be performed with the heater unplugged and removed from the aquarium. I'm hoping once the calibrating is successful, the adjustments will stop.In the photos you can see both heaters in place and the angle they are at to allow full submersion without tube end touching gravel. Yes, these are long! Time will tell on how good these turn out to be.
