There are updated and much improved versions of this shield with version W5200 and W5500 chips. This gives the shield much more functionality than the W5100

Product is not new - open item, not sealed. The pins are dented.

So far the product works as expected. Since these boards are presently hard to get, I was happy to get one and it was delivered quickly. Removed a star because the headers were not soldered on straight and required some manipulation of the pins to get into my Mega Arduino board.

I have been banging my head against the wall for several weeks now because a project I am working on simply does not work... My Arduino was having intermittent connexion issues with this shield, if it connected at all. I had two of those and the issue was the same for both so I second guessed my code multiple times... I changed for a genuine Arduino Shield and all bugs were gone.This product is simply bad (I read that it might be due to wrong resistors values somewhere)

The Ethernet Shield W5100,Network Expansion Board is an excellent addition to the family of Arduino compatible boards! It even allows you to use it as a miniature web server. I am very well pleased with my purchase.
