We used this on my hisbands wheel chair. It is sturdy and easy to set up. A bit stiff to loosen the angle of the rod holder but feel that is good. the alternative is it is too loose right. Once we had the right angle there is no need to adjust again.

This rod holder is pretty solid. It's perfect for a day on the boat, or a pier. It's pretty straight forward to install and remove, and its solid enough to hold a rod while trolling on a lake. I wouldn't trust it for a saltwater trolling rod but for freshwater it is perfect

This is a very nice universal rod holder. It is actually made with aluminum as well as plastic. The main clamp section is made of aluminum. That gives it strength and stability. The actual rod holder itself can be mounted either horizontally or vertically depending on what you are clamping the assembly to. The clamping handle and rod are robust and allow a good amount of pressure to be applied so the unit will remain secure to the mount you might chose. The rod holder incorporates a rotational rod lock that secures the rod to the holder and wont let the rod slip out. While it's a good idea, the operation of the lock is a bit cumbersome, especially when you might want to pull the rod out to fight the fish.

We "inherited" a fishing boat from my in-law's last year when they got a new one, and one thing that was lacking was any rod holders. I looked at a couple of different holders but really didn't want to put holes in the gunnel and I wanted versatility to move the holder to wherever I wanted it (translation - where I'm not in the way of my kid swimming and my wife reading her book). I decided to give this a try and, based on some others I've seen, expected this to be a bit flimsy but operational. I am very pleased to say I was wrong! The first thing I noticed taking it out of the box was that this was pretty heavy and solid! The clamp and the main base of this holder is metal and well designed - it's not going to bend or break. The screw part of the clamp has a pad on one side (bright yellow) and the other is metal, which will allow you to clamp this pretty tight without scraping or messing up your boat. The only main part which is plastic is the actual holder where you put the rod, and that is pretty thick and rigid plastic - also unlikely to break and withstand wear and tear. This also has a piece that will slide over the top after you've set your rod in there to keep it from bouncing or getting knocked out.Beyond being able to quickly and easily move this wherever I want, I was also impressed with the rest of the versatility of this holder. They've provided two mounts on the clamp so that you can use it in either a vertical or horizontal fashion and you're able to easily pivot it side to side and tighten it down so that your rod is facing the desired direction. There is another set screw/mount that lets you change the angle that your rod is hanging over the water. So really, with these together you can set your rod however you want.I'm very impressed with this, highly recommend it and now wish I'd gotten the 2-pack up front as I'll be buying a second one!

I have only test fit it on the side of my canoe because it is still to cold. It appears very well made and sturdy. The clamp opens up very wide and should be able to mount on just about anything. It top can be rotated to have your pole in whatever is needed when trolling. All of my poles and reels fit very well in the holder and are very secure. Once it finally warms up and I have put it through a few trips I will come back to report any negative experiences.
