Seems to work well for it's intended purpose, I just need more practice with it.

Almost good. I know what they were going for but the profile of the file makes it tough to file the spot where the fret meets the fretboard. The safe edge is convex instead of being flat. This means there will always be a slight sharp corner / edge because the file just can't reach it. Other than that it does a nice job. You can at least clean up the bulk of the fret wire.

A few weeks ago, I used this product on one of my older guitars that had sharp fret ends, and I have to admit that it made a remarkable change in the musical quality of the instrument. I was seeking a tool that would help me deal with those annoying, protruding fret edges that like to scrape my fingers as I move up and down the neck. When I initially bought this fret end file set, my primary goal was to find a tool that would do this. Some of the ways I have tried over the years have been improvised using sandpaper, while others have been done with specialized files. However, none of these methods appeared to give the same level of accuracy and convenience of use as this one does. It is my opinion that the design of the double-sided tool is ingenious since it provides you with two separate filing alternatives inside a single compact tool. I am able to swiftly remove any significant burrs from one side, while the other side is ideal for shaping that is more delicate and subtle. The brush that is included with it is useful for keeping the filings off of my workstation. Additionally, it eliminates any residual metal parts from the file itself, which makes the process more organized. It is my opinion that the cleaning brush that is offered provides an additional degree of ease since it eliminates the need for me to search for a different instrument in order to remove dirt after each fret.

Considering that there are retailers that sell this file for a lot more than you would pay for this file, Amazon's price is a great deal for a product that works just as well as other expensive units. I was able to fix my guitar and a ukulele and made me appreciate that there are options available if you want to limit your budget and still do a job well done. The edge is rounded and does not damage the wood of the neck. The file could have had a finer mesh, the tool is an aggressive file and needs to be used with caution. If you are not careful, you may end up taking off too much metal and damage the look of your frets. If you decide to buy this file, I would still protect the wood with tape and would be very gentle when filing the frets. Use a fine sand paper afterwards to clean up the marks this file makes.
