My poodle mix has that problem of long hair in the middle of his paw pads. They get too dirty eventually - especially in the wet season - and it was just an unhealthy and uncomfortable situation.I was always so afraid I'd snip the skin in his feet so I would avoid doing it, which only meant I left all that hair in his paw pads to catch moisture and dirt against his skin.I tested the Furbona trimmer on my arm and it didn't scratch me up. It was useful to get a feel for how my dog might be experiencing it. I pressed it pretty firmly against my skin, firmer than I would when using it on him. I'd probably have to be really scraping at him or at a very odd angle to abrade his skin. You still have to be careful, but it's much much safer than snipping with a scissors (especially when they are nervous and jerking their paws around!).Just be gentle and calm and let them have breaks. Set them up for success! I usually wash my dog's feet after a walk, so I take him for a long walk, wash him off, and then take advantage of his low energy to trim his paws. The charge lasts a long time, too, and it's very convenient that it is water resistant. You can easily do a sanitary rinse after each use.I bought the small size 9mm and the 12mm and I tend to favor the 12mm but I'd still recommend both. I haven't gotten to training him to allowing it near his face but the 9mm would probably be pretty good for lips and around the eye. I like to use the 12mm one on his paws, you just kind of do a scoop motion and I feel the longer blade gets more hair per scoop.

My small dog has furry feet, they hold snow, wet and dirt. Sometimes she licks her feet, which can lead to fungus/allergies etcThis is rather quiet, she doesn't seem to mind, also works to tidy up her butt.Easy, quiet and good value

I have a little Morkie, because of her beautiful hair I needed something small to trim the hair by the corners of her eyes. The hair gets on her eyes and then it comes the tears that dry up and it's hard to clean. Of course I also use it on the pads of her paws. Very quiet and easy to use.

Very difficult to use on knots in middle of paw. Blade not as sharp as it needs to be or maybe blade should be with any guard. However it did eventually get the job done.

Today I received the Upgraded Dog Paw Trimmer with LED Light, 9 mm Mini Blade (0.35 inches), Smart Display, Type-C Rechargeable. I charged it until the indicator was green. I have a sheltie. Normally I use scissors and trim the hair flat against the pads. Using this trimmer I was able to get the hair that is between the pads and between the pads and toenails. The light was so helpful. I did have to go over the areas several times changing direction each pass. I spent about 5 minutes on each foot. I did not trim the tops of her feet because I use scissors for that. Right after I started the last foot I noticed an odor coming from the clippers. I waited a few minutes and finished the last paw and noticed the odor again by the time I finished. Idk if this is normal and would like to find out, but could find no way to contact the store. I'm not expecting a whole lot for this price, but I would like to know they won't fail soon.
