I had a small pipe, a bit of garden hose, linking my two rain barrels, but it couldn't handle the volume of water coming through the downspout. The first rain barrel was overflowing and soaking the area near the house. This linking kit provides a much bigger diameter pipe that allows more water to flow down to the second barrel, more quickly, and prevents the overflow from the first.The kit comes with the correct size hole cutter, and more importantly, rubber sleeves to fit the holes that you drill, and that take the connecting pipe. The sleeve and pipe are a snug fit, despite the curve of the rain barrel, and when in use, neither connection leaks at all.The kit is quite expensive for what it is, but as a quick and effective means of linking rain barrels, you can't get much better.

We did not like this product because . it already has hole in the pipe.
