These files are not good for setting the guitar nuts. Worth zero!

For the price how can I lose? I live in a cold winter area and it gets very dry in the winter. That causes fret sprout, where the wood of a guitar can shrink a lot or a little. If it’s a little bit I don’t mind sanding the metal frets down to be flush with the end of the fret. Otherwise when you slide your fretting hand up or down, your hand gets scratched. These files should really help. And having 10 of them is fantastic.

I’ve been dabbling in some luthier work - building a few guitars and other stringed instruments - and wanted to expand my tool selection. I’ve been needing to do some work on nuts and frets so I was excited to see this set.The set has tools that work on a variety of surfaces - flat, concave - and some find edge work. But having said that, I don’t know if I’d call it a nut file set. I only mention that as there seems to be only one or two files that would work in gaps where the thinnest strings would need to go, so it’s a file set at best. And having said that, I’d say it seems to be a good file set. I’ve had other file sets that are similar in shapes but have had different surfacing which don’t work nearly as well as these. The “grit” or surfaces are good to help take material down without any issues with any of the materials you may be using. Bone, plastic, or soft metal - these should help get you to the shape and surfacing you need.Except for the smallest strings.
