Ordered these in panic mode. Needed nut files for a Stratocaster nut. Wish I hadn’t! There is no way to tell what size the files are. No instructions either to identify which file is which size. I sent a message to the seller asking for help and received no response. They might work for a job that doesn’t require absolute precision, but DONT buy them for filing your guitar nut! The numbers on the handles are static cling stickers and fall off instantly. The numbers stamped into the metal (I, II, and III) do not apparently correlate with the size of the files either. Like one other review I read, the files were slightly bent too. Maybe I can find a use for them, but not on my guitars, that’s for certain!UPDATE: after sending a message to the seller inquiring about what size each file is, they said they would get back in touch with the sizes of the files. Well, they haven't. Poor customer service on top of a poor quality product.

I tried the files the day I received them and they work fine. Seems to be a good deal to me.

I had a project guitar I was working on and didn't wanna pay stewmac prices so I opted for these tools. They're numbered but there's no instructions so it's unclear what their numbered for 'cause they all look almost the same size. Just always take your time when filing.

I needed a set of slotting files for my occasional instrument repair work, and these seemed functional, and I couldn't see investing in those "name brand" files which cost hundreds. A couple of the sizes seem very similar, but I ended up using only 2 or 3 anyway so no big deal. I learned to rock them gently side-to-side to widen the slot so the string won't bind, and also learned that they are quite aggressive, so if you're careful and take your time they will work just fine. It's all a bit of a learning curve. The size numbers taped on the handles quickly fell off, so I just wrote the sizes on each file with a Sharpie and all is well. I find that I'm using them a lot here lately on everything from guitars to violins, so they do a good job overall and I'm quite pleased with them. For the money they are hard to beat, and while probably not as good as the big bucks brands, they do the job when you get the hang of it. A lot better than my home-made files, and they indeed produce good results. Recommended!

I got the fret files quickly and used them to cut a new bone nut for my Taylor guitar. They were inexpensive but performed well with a different width for each string.

Not happy. Files left grooves in the slot bed.

These were not the most expensive but tgey work just as well. The handles are comfortable and are clearly labeled for which string each one is for. I have bone nut and they cut throu it easily. I would recomment this set.
