This is not true on any side. It has peaks and valleys and is not a precision piece of material.

I do not have much experience with these tools. But this one does seem to be good. I've used it a few times so far and also took it to my friend who has much more experience than I do. He said it was "ok" nothing amazing but would do the job, and good for the price.

I have a few string action gauges, but what drew me to this one was the combination metric and Imperial measurements (as well as the convenient conversion table printed on one side). The markings are applied well, and the sturdy metal construction feels durable.The edges are nice and straight, and the three-sided design makes for an effective fret rocker. The different lengths allow you to test various numbers of frets to determine where the high/low frets lie. It’s a simple design, but it’s done well.The only potential issue I can see is the black background with white lettering. I kind of like it, but I can see how others might find it harder to read the string height than with a black-on-silver gauge.This is a useful tool for people who like to work on their own guitars. It’s not as detailed as products you can get from D’Addario or Stew Mac, but it’s a solid unit for the price. That said, it might not be a bad idea to shop around a bit before buying if you want to find the best price.My rating: 4.5 stars
