Rating 5 star based on my use of this fob. The bulk of people searching for new fobs are doing so because of rubber button pad deterioration. No need to bother searching through the dozens available for purchase and searching out YouTube videos on how to disassemble your old glued shut fob and transferring its guts to the replacement. Using a small micro-screwdriver, pop the pad out of OEM fob. Remove the pad from replacement fob and press into place in your original. Job done in 5 minutes.

It did not work for me after following all instructions . I had to spend another 200 dollars to get new keys.

I received my first one today, 15 minutes later I was done. I know how to work with tools, but I still watched a couple YouTube videos first. Be careful of the flying spring! I used needlenose pliers inside a sandwich bag to contain the small parts. These DO NOT have any rubber gaskets like OEM fobs, so they will not be water resistant at all! But, I am very satisfied and ordered another one for the 2nd set of keys. Saved a fortune!

The pc board and RFID chip must be retained from the original key and in my case I also opted to keep the original flip key and metal button. The original was difficult to dismantle and so was the replacement, which would be almost better sold in kit form. All went back together well and works as intended. If you’re parient, and can handle assembly of intricate parts, this is a great deal

Worked for about a month then even with a new battery the terminals failed. Guess you get what you pay for.

Bought this for our son’s 2012 Kia Soul. Simple process following instructions on YouTube. Works as it should, but it doesn’t fit the ‘guts’ perfectly. Definitely worth it over the cost of a genuine replacement, but it’s not perfect.

The rubber over the buttons on my key had disintegrated and I was holding it together with duct tape. Ghetto. 2012 Kia Rio. Had marked my calendar to drive 3 hours return trip to pay a Kia dealership $350…AND I would have had to wait for it to be delivered and then drive back to the dealership again. Continued to procrastinate for months then after I arranged it, I had some DIY inspiration. Super glad I did! Arrived fast. You’ll need needle nose pliers and a mini screw driver set (also maybe a pair of wire cutter pliers for removing the immobilizer chip). Hit the dollar store for those. Look up the process on YouTube. Basically, you need to keep the “key” part as well as the little silver knob that you push to flip it out. You put those in the new fob along with the circuit board. Pop the battery in and you’re done. Took me 20 minutes. Please watch a video though. There’s a bit of fiddling needed to ensure the switchblade key still works properly and some good advice about popping the old key open inside a big ziplock bag so that you don’t lose any pieces. Best video is a Russian guy (super annoying with long gross fingernails) but he does manage to explain things even though you will want to punch him in the face. Look for a video by wiki universe. One thing the video gets very wrong is placing the circuit board properly. If you try to centre it on the “bottom” of the fob you will struggle. The “top” has a perfectly fitted space for it. Very proud of myself tonight and super stoked to have a decent looking, working key fob again! Bonus, you will also easily be able to replace the battery with this fob. Great product…only complaint is that there is a bit of a rattle as the circuit board is just loose in there. A couple of dabs of cheap super glue would probably fix that. UPDATE: My Canadian vehicle has an immobilizer chip in the top right under a white plastic cover. I transferred the white plastic cover over thinking it was the chip…it was not. The actual chip was under a solid layer of super glue. I needed some snip pliers and had to basically rip the old fob apart to cut out the chip…managed to do it but won’t be super easy for most folks. If you can get the chip out, just leave any glue on it and insert into the new fob. Beware…if you screw up and break the chip, you better have another key handy or the car ain’t going anywhere! I only have the one key and was sweating by the end!

Great product. Used for my 2012 Kia Rondo.Saved me a lot of money on getting a new fob programmed from a dealer.I really only needed a new key pad so I pulled out the damaged one from my fob and replaced it with the one from the new fob. No need to swap the electronics and metal key part. New keypad fits perfectly. I bought two as the spare fob was also worn out. Highly recommended.
