It is constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) which enables it to stand up to UV, freezing and lawn equipment. Mousehole-shaped openings in the bottom of the box allow up to 1-1/2-inch pipe to pass through without cutting. The reinforced lid snaps securely onto the box. We recommend installing the valve box lid at grade level and applying gravel beneath the box to promote drainage and prevent settling.

This item is normally used for housing sprinkler or small irrigation valves. However, I use it to hold a window well sump pump. Occasional heavy rains cause subsurface water flowage toward our house because we are in a hilly region with small long-buried streams. The basement window wells are the first to be affected. The runoff can easily come in through the windows if not pumped out continuously during rain events. My submersible pump has a float on the side. I've used plastic flower pots sunk into the bottom of the window wells to house the pumps, but the pots I've had were just a tad too small to comfortably hold the pump and float to avoid sticking of the float. This sprinkler valve box is just the perfect size I've been looking for. It's thick and sturdy, and there's a reinforcing ring around to top for ruggedness to avoid crushing or distorting the round box.. Plus, it's just barely the right diameter to fit between my metal window well enclosure and the cinder block basement wall. I have not found anything at major home improvement stores for sump pumps like this. Most of them are way too large. This valve box is perfect.

Setting up a home watering drip irrigation takes a lot of patience and parts. Hubs thinks he has it now. Plants are happy.

Good sturdy design, good size and strong cover but this doesn’t include locking screw and bolt to lock the cover in place, still the cover is well held by a twist motion.

Very rugged, commercial-grade box. I use it to cover two residential sprinkler valves that are close together. The previous box was smaller, the walls were thinner, and the lid did not lock into place. Once the original lid was destroyed, I could not find a replacement lid to fit it, so I tried one of the "universal" lids on two occasions. They would last maybe a month on the average, but were no match for the mowers. My valves were not very deep, so I had to do a lot of surgery with a sabre saw to make this valve cover work. But it was not difficult. The lid has a hole that you could put a big lag bolt through, but I have not found it necessary so far. The lid fits into slots and you rotate it so that it locks into place. I am very pleased with it.

I was digging up an old bushes root and had to bring out my pick axe as it would not let go. Low and behold the previous owner had buried a small 6 inch irrigation cover that was placed right next to the bush. The roots had wrapped around it and during one of my over the head swings cracked it.I’ve bought other covers for irrigation 14x19 the quality on this is great compared to the others I purchased. If I knew The height and width of this replacement is great! Not to mention the thickness of the lid and walls! Hard plastic pvc I think about a 1/4 inch thick. Takes a lot of force to try to flex any part of this. The lid is extra thick and almost a slick smooth surface that dirt and debris will not stick allowing it to easily be visible and clear. It has the perfect height for what I needed to cover up the old pipe and still stay above ground to remain visible for many years to come.
