I never did receive this item, but I got a refund in a reasonable time frame, so excellent customer service. I gave the seller five stars for this fact.It wasn't the sellers fault the item was never delivered, it was the delivery service.

I love this device. What minimal music theory I learned was always demonstrated on a piano - but I play guitar. I fundamentally understood majors and minors and kind of grasped 3rds, 5ths, and 7ths, but it never all fit together before. THIS has been the tool that I needed to help my brain make all the connections. Now, the CAGED positions, as well as the Triad exercises, pentatonic scales, and diatonic scales - shoot, this even fits in the blue notes!I don't know how to describe it, but before, each thing I learned stayed isolated in my brain. Now, it all fits together, and it is making me a much better guitarist! The compact size is actually great. But (being old enough to have actually used a mathematical sliding ruler in grade school) my old eyes would love to get one at 1.5 times the size. Heck, to be fair, I guess I'd pay 1.5 times the price. lol.I love this tool!

Why do both sides have the same hole layout? The minor pentatonic side shows Am, flipped over, the major pentatonic side shows Cma. Of course, they're the same scale. I my opinion, it would have been more advantageous to have one side Am pentatonic and the other side Ama pentatonic with a different hole layout. My advice, buy 2 units, throw away the hole section of the first unit and then attach its slider to the second slider, one in the Am position and the other offset in the major position.

This slid ruler really has helped to visually see scales and to help understand the basic structures of major and minor pentatonic and the root notes. The YouTube videos also are a great companion and tutorial to understand how the ruler functions. The manual is also beneficial but takes a moment to grasp the details.

fantastic little learning aid, nice and clear with some instructions too I would recommend this for beginners, advance beginners and intermediate players nice to have on hand when practicing.and to the guy whining about copyright -1. the product is massively different to your design and you cannot copyright the content as you do not own the musical scales, you could only copyright your slide mechanism, but this one differs to your design2. there is nothing stopping you mass producing and selling yours on here as you clearly have had this for many many years so you have lost out due to a lack of motivation or business initiative.3. its never too late, so take it upon yourself to get your product out there.

The slide rule seemed a tad pricey, but you only need one and I'm glad I bought it. It's brightly colour-coded and clearly shows the 5 positions of the pentatonic scales, both Major and Minor. If you line up the A note at the 5th fret [minor pent.] you will see in glorious red the shape and note names of the scale in that position - along with the shapes adjacent up and down the neck. Whip the slide rule over and you now have the C Major pent clearly displayed. Cunning or wot?For lovers of Greek architecture there are also references to Aeolian and Ionian [and other] modes - way beond this guy's paycheck to evaluate! All in all; a clever invention and a recommended buy!

I haven't had a chance to use it much but looks to me like it will be useful for training and practice. The plastic is light and flexible which is not surprising given the modest price. I found the sliding a bit stiff but I would assume you would practice with one setting at a time.-Hey!-you can always use 3&1 Oil (LOL)

This useful guide measures only 11" x 3" and has the five major pentatonic scale shapes and notes colour coded on one side, and the five minor (similar) shapes and notes colour coded on the other side. Though the major and minor shapes are the same, the root note changes. Very easy to read and the scale root can be set to any note on the major or minor side. Set note G as the root on the major shape side, and note E automatically appears as the root on the minor shape side. The five colour coded shapes are very clear and easy to follow. Also indicated are the missing notes to make the diatonic scale in any key, the minor 3rd in each key for the "blue" note, the seven modes, and the notes shared between scale shapes. Much more convenient than having to fumble through a book. You can practice with this on your lap with all the necessary info in front of you. My only gripe is that the enclosed instructions are not the easiest to follow, though once sorted out, the shape guide is very easy to use. Very clever and useful. Probably a wee bit expensive, but it certainly works.

The pentatonic major scale is wrong! It’s missing a note. It has the note in part of the scale but not all. For example, A major should have c# on the A string but it doesn’t. It shows the note on the G string but obviously they should repeat. So this is a defect.
