This product works effectively for my specific distillation needs, despite operating far below its intended temperature range. I consistently run it at 56°C (133°F), and at that temperature, it performs admirably. While I can't speak to its capabilities at higher temperatures, it serves its purpose well in my setup. It does take a considerable amount of time to initially heat up a 1000ml flask, but once the desired temperature is reached, it maintains it reliably. An added bonus is the accessibility of the PID controller; a quick inspection revealed that it appears to be easily replaceable. The controller looks to be a clone of the widely used REX-C100, and REX-C100 instruction manual is significantly more comprehensive than the inadequate documentation included with this unit.

Used this to successfully solder a DRV8838 motor driver to PCB without paste mask. I used a low temperature no lead paste at 200 deg C.

I like the Soiiw 110V 850W Soldering Hot Plate LED Microcomputer Electric Preheat Soldering Station. It is not very accurate, but it gets hot enough for me. Mine shows about 24C lower than the setting temp when set to 200C. The most I will probably ever need is 600F, and it gets that hot easily. For me that is acceptable for the price of the unit.Electronics Repair is one of my hobbies, so I'm pretty sure that I could take the unit apart and make the temp more accurate if I needed to. But I use my Brymen 869s or Fluke to measure the temp anyway, so it isn't that big of a deal for me. I went ahead and gave it four stars on accuracy. Your unit may be more accurate than mine.

This hot plate looks pretty well put together but comes with only a bare-bone manual, which only tells you how to adjust the temperature set point. But it includes no instructions for adjusting the PID controls and other settings of the temperature controller. It would be somewhat understandable to omit these if the controller was so well tuned with the heater that further adjustments would not be necessary. But this is actually not the case: the temperature controller appears to be set up with its default parameters that are not particularly well matched to the heater properties. This is probably why some customers reported that the efficiency of the temperature control is sub-optimal. It is not a huge deal, the hot plate will still do its job, but it just takes much longer than necessary to reach the set point. Some reviewers complained that the customer service told them that the PID controls are not adjustable. That is not true: this hot plate uses a fairly standard, adjustable temperature controller. If you want to tinker with the controller, you can find the description of the commands and settings for a very similar controller, REX-C100, which seem to be applicable for this model as well.

The device is very sturdy. Bought for electrical soldering purposes. There's smell of plastic heating up or something during the first few uses, I guess that's normal. It's large and took around 5min to heat up to soldering temperatures. Will recommend for all occasions except high-precision electronics rework.

I got mine on discount (used, like new), so I feel satisfied so far.A lot of other reviews call into question the ratings of the parts inside. Could be they got earlier revisions of this product, you never know what you are getting with no-name brands like this.As for mine, here are my observations:- Temperature is even, and I measured accurate results with my thermocouple on various points of the plate.- Power draw is actually 800W (7.3A nom), which is close enough. I measure with a kill-a-watt.- Internal wiring is all 16AWG, so good more than good enough if accurate.- Switch is 20A rated- Fuse is 10A- Rear IEC connector rated 250V 16A- Large heatsink on the temperature controller triacThe one change I will make is adding a small internal fan to be 100% sure nothing blows in the bottom compartment. Will update here if anything fails.

Well Made. Easy to setup. Heat reasonably well for 800W heater. Compact and all by spec. Worth all pennies.

This has worked amazingly easy for me. I've had no previous experience with SMD, and I managed to make several boards over multiple days without problems. Large platform, smooth and even temp. The only issue I ran into was the display reported a temp 12 degrees higher than actual, but that was fairly easy to apply a correction for - In my case I pressed and held the set button for 10 secs until the display changed. Short press the select multiple times until you see SC on the display, use the arrows to adjust the correction up or down (in my case down 12), then press the select button again. It'll show LCK after that. I just waiting then until it timed out. After that it was showing the correct temperature. It has a REX-C100 controller for the temp.

This is a very nice product. Purchased for light phone servicing and PCB preheat. The unit is well built, a good value and I would purchase again.Support was also very good. On this note, I caution anyone who would use an IR thermometer to measure the device temperature that the aluminum surface emits very little IR - resulting in a very low reading. Adding a painted steel plate to test, I can confirm the PID is surprisingly accurate.

The fuse inside is 6A at 110V thats ~660W and actual draw is 665W. The item description claims 850W. Where are my 185W???Unit has no SSR inside, The internal relay is used instead of the solid state that this machine usually uses. The PID controller is not the same as the image has. When opened inside is very crudely built with no support for SSR control.Temperature probe is slightly screwed onto the plate and when I ordered two heat plates I see that one plate had batter temp readout than other. There is no fiber glass or ceramic insulation under the heat plate.Ground wire attached to the paint lol and upper aluminium plate is NOT grounded.Internal wiring uses very small gauge and it does get very warm when operating the unit.Overall I like the aluminium heat plate design, with single end cartridges on 4 sides of it. However the temperature probe needs to be checked and possibly replaced for better temp sampling.I ended up seriesing 2 cartridges and then paralleling 2 sets of 2 which lowered the draw to 185W actual watts. I also replaced thermal probe with one that has threads and drilled into aluminium plate and threaded the hole to insert replacement probe. After that no issues. I attached temperature curve atr 185W and the time and takes to reach. This device has great potential but unfortunately this is a replica of already cheap device and cloning cloned device while cutting the costs results in ugh this. But once again, if you are buying this item with a mind set of doing touch ups and modifications and fix the cut corners then this is even cheaper then getting one from aliexpress. But if you not going to open this device or have no expertise to do so then probably better off getting one from another store that has SSR and original PID inside it.
