I'm an electronics technician and while I've always used proper soldering stations at work, I've relied on the cheap pencil irons with nothing but a pressed metal stand at home. This has been a very nice upgrade and is very similar to systems I've used at work. Having a proper setup has made working on home projects much easier. I do pretty basic soldering, nothing detailed, mostly 20ish gauge wiring projects and this is up to the task. Having the sponge and scrubber built into the station is a huge convenience and the pen is comfortable to hold and use. Most cheap home irons come with a large guard that prevents them getting into tight spaces. This iron is slim and doesn't present that problem at all. I haven't really played with the variable temperature much, I just set it for the solder I'm using and leave it there. I'm really happy with this unit so far, but I'll update my review as I get more use out of it, should I encounter anything that warrants it.

Bought as a side iron to help desolder things that need multiple points heated. Suprised at how well it works, have been using it way more than a side iron should be.

Stopped working second use. Build quality is not good. The control button was loose and off-center touching the case/enclosure. It also had inconsistent heat... when it worked.

Small foot print on my soldering bench. Heats up quickly. Tips fit well and snug. No issues as of yet but haven't had it for very long.

Working excellently so far. Heats up quickly and is compatible with official T245 JBC tips. Compared to the real deal, it's not built quite as premium nor is it quite as powerful (despite claiming more watts on paper), but it's a hell of a lot closer than what you will find coming from many irons that cost a lot more than this one does! In short, it pays off to copy what works great to begin with.

This soldering station is very compact and takes up very little room in your work area. The small control unit is slim and has a bright and easy to read display. The display is able to be changed as far as the display colour to customize it for your needs. The manual that comes with this soldering station is seriously lacking in information and really tells you nothing about the station or its operation. It just gives the basics, and you will have to play with the unit to figure out the rest. The menus of the control unit are easy to read and easy to navigate. The iron holding base is one that connects to your main control unit and when the soldering iron is in the holder, it sends a signal to the control unit to place the iron in standby mode which keeps the iron at a lower heat until it is ready to use. Once you remove it from the holder, the heat climbs to the set temperature very quickly. I’m a little confused on the temperature setting though because even though I set my default temperature to a certain setting, the display shows it at a much lower heat than what I have set. Luckily, it is easy to increase the temperature by rotating the main knob of the control unit. Hopefully I can figure out how to get it set to the temperature that I need on a regular basis so that I don’t have to make the extra adjustment. The different tips that come with the iron are a great variety and give a lot of options for soldering. They all store neatly and conveniently in the iron holder base. All in all, for a compact unit like this, it works very well. It heats quickly and cools quickly as well. The base and all other components are solidly made and feel very solid when you are using them. A great soldering station at a great price.

I have a couple of hours of using it now. It is a fantastic solder iron for the price. I am under no delusion that this will last as long as the very pricey versions it's based on, But for what I do it's been a gamechanger. Great product, highly recommended.
