After soaking this in water for about 5 hours I took it out and placed it around the tree after I dug down just a little bit. The watering ring wasn't full and round like shown in the picture, it looked a little flaccid as it wasn't nice and taunt. The watering ring did however provide water and keep the soil immediately around the ring moist for about two weeks which saved me some time from having to water this tree. Not too bad for the price, however I would like to see the pricing come down around 25% or so before I would consider buying more for the rest of my new baby trees!

I like the idea of the Teflever tree watering ring. It's easy to use but takes a while for the ring to fully absorb water. The ring slowly releases the water back to the base of the tree. This is very useful during summer because it concentrates the release just to the base of the tree minimizing water waste. It auto refills when I water our it rains. The material seems durable so I expect for it to last for a while.

So, I really wanted to love this water ring. Instead, I just like it. I think this would’ve worked great in the VA summers we had about 20 years ago, but in a summer that we had 5 hard, long lasting heat waves with accompanying drought, I had to refill it a lot. Not the company’s fault, they can’t adjust my local rainfall or the ambient air and soil temperature. My timed soaker hoses in my garden beds also struggled to keep my gardens watered well. It was easy to use and in the little bit of spring we had, it worked as advertised. When air and soil temp raged, not so much. It’s a good idea, but with the range of extreme climates our country now has, it’s not a great bet for all areas.

Very nice for the hotter months to keep my dwarf fruit trees going! Just soak it, bury it in mulch, and you're off to the races! It seems to do well in the PNW. We don't get SUPER hot summers, so I can't speak to how this would work in a desert or truly hot climate, but our summers get into the 90s and it seems solid for that. It is easy to set up on the tree and does the job well. The most frustrating part is just remembering to check the water level so you can soak it again.
