TPM 2.0 Module, 14 Pin 2x7P Security Module for ASUS for Win11 Platform Protection Module, Encryption Processor, Standard PC Architecture
Encryption Processor: The TPM is a standalone encryption processor that is connected to a Sub board attached to the motherboard. The TPM securely stores an encryption key that can be created using encryption software such as for Windows BitLocker. Without this key, the content on the user's PC will remain encrypted and protected from unauthorised access.
Standard PC Architecture: A certain amount of memory is set aside for system use, so the actual memory size will be less than the specified amount. Functionality is the same as the original version. Supported states may vary depending on motherboard specifications.
Applicable Systems: TPM2.0 encrypted security module is available for ASUS for Windows 11 motherboards. Some motherboards require the TPM module to be inserted or updated to the latest BIOS to enable the TPM option.

This adds TPM 2.0 to older compatible Asus motherboards (mine is Z170 Deluxe). After plugging it in and rebooting, it was instantly recognized by BIOS and Windows 10. Please note that this module alone might not be enough to meet Windows 11 minimum standards. In my case, an Intel 6th or 7th generation CPU was not good enough. A simple registry change fixed that and Win11 is running happily on my 10+ year-old PC.

As the title states, this was needed for a Windows 11 upgrade and it worked for me.
