Does the job in a compact package. The handle has a sensor and cools down when placed in the cradle. Nifty.

I must say I am quite impressed by this beast. It does what it was purchased to do and it does it well. So far it has held up though I mostly only used it for heat shrink tubing to get my ESD setup completed. Soon I will get plenty of SMD soldering with it under my belt and I'll update the review then. So far it works as intended, but I didn't expect it to stay running after it was shut off. Turning it on and off isn't straightforward I noticed. I recommend reading the power module instructions carefully. Once it is on, controlling the temperature is easy.

Pros:- Compact- Has temperature calibration pot. Mine was 32C off and I was able to calibrate it even without opening the housing since pot is accessible through the vent holes with a tiny phillips screwdriver.Cons:- The wire is too small for strain relief and it freely rotates inside the hand held pieces which will cause connections to break after some use since not even a zip-tie preventing the wire from being pulled on from the solder joints. Recommending taking hand help apart and zip tying the edge of the cable to prevent pulling stress on the solder points. Keep in mind the heater is 120V and not DC like some other hot air stations and the main fuse is 6A so when wires decide to short out from being yanked and twisted you will have 720W explosion in your hand in a worst case scenario.- The main triac for heating element has its markings wiped, so when it inevitable breaks you won't know which part to order. Additionally the only cooling solution is a double sided pad but it's not enough. After using the fan for 10 min at 320C the triac was at 95.1C and the plastic housing was at 50.2C. Additionally the wiring that goes to the 8 pin connector is above the hottest element on the board and it is not rated for high temperature environment presenting a possible wire melting and shorting out in the future from prolonged use of if something is covering vent holes on the plastic housing. I am really nervous about the heat dissipation issue. The internal fan is using 12V DC so maybe mounting small tiny fan inside the controller could improve air circulation a little. But if you are using this only for short amounts of time then should be fine I guess; but anything over 10 min please keep an eye out on the controller temperature.- Biggest disadvantage is the fact that the tip is too short and clamp style hot air tips wont work with this stations. Factory kinda bent the tip to make the sliding groves so the tip puts on then twists to lock in place but if you switch nozzle adapters frequently then that will quickly wear out and eventually you will drop your tip onto your board while using hot air.- The label has some printing misalignment and english instructions is something from a comedy show.

Very easy to use. Works great. An airflow of 5 or 6 usually is enough for those use it was intended for and will lead a more accurate temperature reading. At airflow 8 and more, temperature reading is less reliable, it makes more use and I find it is, frankly, not necessary to use that much air flow.I have checked temperature with a digital probe. Temperature is quite accurate between 150 and 350 celcius. Under 150, it is "fairly" accurate. Especially if you keep airflow setting under 8. Above 350 celcius, especially at high air flow rate, it shows signs of difficulty to reach and maintain temperature. At 400 the element glows red, which means it will last less time. Temperature reading is less reliable at high air flow settings (7 or more). The heat gun works great and it appears to be a great costs/advantages deal. But only time will tell if the device lasts.Desoldering SMDs without damaging them has turned more difficult than expected and I will need tutorials and practice. But it is NOT the heat gun. The heat guns itselfs works great.

This desoldering machine is very good for the electronic rework station. It is small enough to fit on any work station and portable as well. I have been looking for this kind for a long time. it gets to adjusted temperature very fast and it automatically shuts off when it is put back on its stand.I used it to remove small IC's without damaging the part nor the board, and would say it is comparable to a professional machine. All in all it does its job very well.It is also very easy to use and it is exactly as it is described. It is very strong built, light and the handle very easy to grip and convenient. I hope it lasts me for long time to come since i don't use it every day. I recommend it for any one looking for small PCB desoldering workstation.

This is a good quality heat gun suitable for hobby use. Everything is well made with the exception being the digital temperature controller that uses a amateurish, complicated computer program that makes making adjustments somewhat annoying. Nice that the kit came with tips for controlling the air flow but a more user friendly professional temperature controller would make a significant improvement.

I put this on various temperatures and no matter what i did it took forever to do anything to the solder paste, took so long (2 minutes) and wasn't completely melting things. My Sn42's solder paste curve was peaked at 165 celsius but no matter what I did it didn't work. Also, it turns on if you lift it from the stand and turns off if you put it on the stand. For setting the temperature and the air flow, there is a really loud beep that will surely wake people up if they are nearby. I will save money and hopefully go for a one that has a station.
