I've been using this soldering iron for years and have had no issues. I've used it for small circuits like PCB boards right up to building harnesses for engine swaps on 100k+ vehicles.

A. Heats up better than my old 40w circuit test iron that walked away.B. The iron perfectly mates with the holder. You don't really get that with generic holders.C. The sponge is a great size and is helpful.Suggestion.It would have been nice if it came with an assortment of tips.

Maybe the transformer is not efficient, but I cannot use it to solder wires. Not enough heat.

After using these cheap standalone soldering irons, I decided it was worth getting a legit soldering station. I don't solder all that much so I was looking for something basic but quality, with an adjustable temperature. I know Weller has a good rep so I gave this one a try. So far so good. I needed to do some SMT solder work and this did the job quite nicely (after replacing the stock tip with a ST7 conical tip I bought separately). The build seem solid, the controls are pretty basic but does the job. I thought it was pretty good value for the money.

At this price point, its a no brainer. If your looking at the knockoff brand versions of this soldering iron, stop. Save your money. I've purchased both and this tool is just on a different level... kinda hard to appreciate that from the pictures but trust me. The 7 year warranty (vs 3 months the generic brands offer) feels really good to have. The tips weigh probably three times as much as the knockoff ones (the weller tips are solid metal, the generic tips are hollow) but it WILL work with generic tips if you have them around.Like others have stated, look at getting smaller tips with your purchase as this unit only comes with one rather bulky tip. Usable, but meh. Spend the extra money, seriously, it's actually fun when you have the right tools!

I've used various models Weller soldering irons since the 1980s. Unfortunately, my last Weller station only lasted 35 years and needed to be replaced.This station is good for home use. It heats up in a reasonable amount of time and the variable heat adjustment works nice. When I use it, I have this station on, it's running for 6 to 8 hours no problem. A nice bonus of this station is you can plug other irons into the station to take advantage of the variable control.Great value, Weller quality.

I solder enough to Require a good system. I am very happy with this unit. It does the job well, heats fast and the tips are interchangeable. For the money you can’t go wrong. I k of people that have spent hundreds of dollars on top of the line smt systems, that is not this system but I can do some smt with it with the correct heads. I am confident I will have it for the next 20+ years making it a very good and functional investment in my shop.

This iron is actually red, not pink like it is in the picture. The station and iron aren't even the same color which is really odd. With that said weller is a good brand, I come from a family of serious tech nerds that have always used weller and I used a weller for my stained glass for years and this one is no exception. It's a good iron, I just was really excited about the pink so the men I live with wouldn't get any ideas about borrowing it...... Oh well.

Excelente estación para soldar el paquete me llego en tiempo y forma llego en excelente condiciones.Este cautin digamos que es semiprofecional pero es muy bueno y ademas el cautin lo puedes usar de forma autónoma sin la estación, de igual forma a la estación le puedes conectar cualquier otro cautin que desees en caso de que este se descomponga, pero paro la calidad del cautin durara mucho tiempo. La estación es regulable lo por lo que esta estación esta genial, y es de buena marca ademas esta a un super precio mejor que en otras tiendas de internet.Si vas a comprar esta estación asegúrate también de comprar una punta Weller ST7MX ya que la punta que trae de fabrica es plana y se gasta muy rápido.Lo compre por Amazon EE.UU y con envió gratis se tardo semana y media en llegar, al principio pensé que no llegaría porque la linea de tiempo no avanzaba, pero después todo fue muy rápido.

I bought this for my electrical engineering class and its great.It accepts new solder tips at a relatively low price, has a heat level (Not a real temperature level but its still good once you figure out what level for which solder/tip).The only bad thing, which is more of an inconvenience, is the station power cord location. I can't help but think the cable will melt without my knowledge because of it, its always near the solder tip and you therefor need to watch for the cable when you put the live iron on the station.Also, the provided tip is one I would not have thought to purchase but does a great job! (like a flat screwdriver head)
