Rejects valid Wi-Fi passwords that contain spaces — a clear violation of WPA2/WPA3 standards. Cannot connect, cannot update, cannot use. Returned immediately.

I got this dual band wifi router specifically to use as an Access Point. I wasn’t expecting much, but was able to connect to it through 2.4 and 5G. I was able to run a speed test and was getting full speed from my ISP.The only thing I didn’t like is that this router is manufactured in China, so the web url directs you to a .cn link in order to configure the settings. The web GUI was terrible and not that user friendly. There was no back button, you could only go back through the browser arrow. There didn’t seem like much advance features, but since I’m not using it as a router, I only had to enter the SSID and passwords.When it comes to anything networking related, there’s always that worry about spyware or back doors when you add something like this to your network. Since I have nothing of value, it’s not a big deal for me, but be careful and mindful of the potential implications.I’m satisfied so far with the hardware and performance. It’s small and doesn’t take up too much space. It does take take up a couple socket spaces as you can’t twist or turn it when plugged in. The price at time of purchase is a bit high considering what you get. You could almost get a full sized router from a known manufacturer and still get better configuration settings and piece of mind.

PROS:* Compact and lightweight hardware. Device hardware set-up was easy.* Device management set-up was easy through the local web interface.* Connectivity seemed consistent.* Installation user guide was easy to understand (English, Chinese).CONS:* In repeater mode, wireless download and upload speeds were extremely dismal. Client devices in the same physical location were able to easily achieve download speeds of 400 Mbps directly from the main router and maintain uploads of 30 Mbps. When communicating with the 1200M product device, downloads struggled to reach 25 Mbps while uploads strained to reach 10 Mbps. These results were consistent no matter how the environment was provisioned. These results were for 5G connections. 2.4G connections were even worse and in general, less than half of the 5G radio.* Both documented manufacturer support web site URLs (there were two) on and in the packaging were not reachable. At the time of this writing, seeking a firmware update (if available) could not happen. It was a shame.SUMMARY:My motive was to use the AC 1200M product in repeater mode. Sadly, no matter the physical provisioning of the environment or choice of test client (many were tried), throughput speeds were extremely and consistently dismal. For this reason the product was a poor experience and practically unusable.
