Sharp but, too bulky for small hands and I found adjusting them annoying. I was trying to use them on a 6 year old, recalcitrant lab but, gave up. Probably work for people with bigger hands and more patience!

very handy to have the adjust able cutting hole size, for different size dogs and for different size claws on the same dog.

These are great clippers so far but some of my dogs nails are very thick and is a tight fit at largest opening setting. Wish it opened just a little wider and they would be perfect. So far we've used them twice and they haven't broken like our previous clippers. My dog has thick tough nails and so far these clippers are holding up well and working pretty good. **Update: blades got dull after 4th cutting session, started to become difficult to cut and started to crack and break nails.** not sure how to sharpen this shape blades so I can continue to use them. I really liked them while they were sharp.

This review only applies to dogs. Never tried it on a cat, or Mongolian tit mouse, etc. What a relief! Once adjusted to your pet's toenail size so the hole between the blades stops sliding up the nail well before the quick, the sharp blades cut through the nail without splintering. And because it is impossible to cut anything outside of the toenail inserted into the adjustable hole between the blades, no worries about cutting your pet's toes or stabbing their foot if they squirm around. And because it holds the nail to be cut in place and cuts quickly and cleanly, your pet has very little time to squirm out of position. One possible criticisms would be using the cutters as recommended leaves the nails a bit long. But it is so easy to cut them again, all you have to do is schedule nail trimming a bit more often. Another thing to note that really has nothing to do with the clippers themselves, is the clean nail cut leaves sharp edges that should be filed down a bit. I use a small battery powered grinder that is wimpy enough that there is very little chance of taking more material off then just the sharp edge of the cut nail. Such grinders get the surface of the nail hot enough to smell like burnt hair, so a wimpy one is a good choice for touch ups that will not scare your pet.

These cost less than 1 nail clipping for 1 dog at our vet.I love to take care of the dogs myself but have never been happy with any nail clippers including grinders, lighted snips, and a pile of just plain clippers until these. The idea is to make the hole between the blades the right size for YOUR dog by turning the thumb wheel -- check it once and tighten if too big to be dangerous for the quick, or loosen if to small to get enough nail.Once this is done you really can't make a mistake even if you can't see clearly or keep the paw at the perfect angle. The nail will only go in as deep as you set the hole.Be a tad conservative on the first trimming to give you and the dog confidence that nothing bad will happen.Open it as bit as you both relax and your certain you're still away from the quick.I tried using these to "click" to get the dog used to the sound but they really make almost no inherent noise -- trimming a nail is as loud as the nail and they are sharp enough that isn't very loud.Honestly can't say how long they'll last on my two giant pups (110+ lbs each), but I really don't much care since a new pair is half the price of one groomer clipping for both of them and I'm certain we'll get a dozen or many dozens before I lose them or need a new set.I've never had a set of dog nail trimmers that made me happy before. Tolerable maybe, but never happy, until these.

ease of knowing how much nail to trim, and knowing if pup moves, he won't be nicked!

I brought this to trim my iguana nails. I’ve used other electric nail trimmers that heated as I was trimming my iguana nails as well as making her skiddish because of the noise. I also feared of cutting them too low. These are the best. I can cut my iguana nails while she is lounging around without needing anyone to her hold her. It’s quite and I can also adjust it to the smallest setting without cutting too much and risk of bleeding or hurting my iguana. She just looks at me while I cut them. It also cuts clean without splitting the nails. So if you have a skiddish animal when it’s time to cut their nails, this is definitely a life changer and very easy to use. Highly recommend especially for small animals like mine

I live in Calgary, AB and only order items shipping in Canada. I decided to take a chance as this was shipping from "outside" and glad I did. Decades of Dogs with various breeds, and every Nail Clipper out there, these are the best I have used. I was skeptical the adjustment to set the nail hole size would matter but it really does. Once set, you can't go over the entire nail and it's easy to trim small pieces. I have no idea why this wouldn't work on any size dog. I'll update this post if they don't last long but happy so far.
