This product, for the price, is a good starter kit for guitar players to do their own set ups when they change strings etc. The fret dressing files are a bit sketchy, and somewhat rough, while the fingerboard protectors when you clean and polish frets are flimsy (just use painter's tape, but the measuring tools are good value. You get a little cloth, some low cost Allen keys and string winder, and other bits and bobs. The carry case is good to keep everything in order. Some picks, very cheap acoustic strings. On the whole it is a good kit for basic guitar maintainable. Anything more than that, and you would need to invest in more robust tools.

Not professional luthier quality, but definitely more than adequate for the casual / home / DIY user. I used it on 4 guitars the first day with excellent results. The entire kit costs as much as one single set of pro gauges, so its certainly worth the price. I would highly recommend this set to any guitar player interested in repairing / maintaining their instruments, and I would absolutely purchase this again.

Great little kit for the price but I doesn’t come with everything depicted or described. My kit doesn’t have any radius gauges or the sanding block which sucks because the gauges were the reason I picked this kit over others in the first place. It also didn’t come with bridge pins, bridge saddles, or nuts, or the random fretboard diagram (?) but that’s fine because I never would have used them anyways.Still though, I guess I’ll just buy a set of radius gauges somewhere else, but be aware of that in particular

While maybe not a professional kit, it works for what I need to make minor repairs to my guitars. Would buy again.

If you are a professional guitar tech, this is not your kit. If you are a hobbyist or just a dabbler, it'll do. If you plan on getting more serious about guitar repair, it's a good start and you can always replace any of the cheaper parts with higher quality parts later. But as a maintenance kit for a beginner to learn how to do basic set up, I recommend it. Decent price, good for learning, nice compact package.

I found a beat-up acoustic guitar in a thrift store for $50, bought this kit and a tube of LePage wood glue and laxative-grade mineral oil, and I was able to file down and polish the fretboard, replace the bridge and other than waiting for the glue to set 24 hours, I was finished in a couple of hours. She sounded great when I bought her, and now she sounds fantastic. I figure I saved myself about $1000 at the luthier's, and between the guitar, the repair kit, and the glue and oil, I spent a total of roughly $100.A lot of these tools are multi-purpose beyond just luthiering: Allan keys always come in handy, the gauges, files and polishing (sanding) stone could be used for a lot of different projects. And if you're a guitar collector (Or banjo, ukulele, etc.) whether acoustic or electric (I want an electric ukulele soo bad!) you can use this to keep your own instruments in shape. The only reason it's four stars, is I would have liked a detailed inventory of what everything in the case is; the picture shows a lot, but not everything, that comes in the kit. And a manual to know what all the bits and pieces are supposed to do is always a good thing...even if we have a tendency (MEN) to disregard instructions until required. However, I went into this never having worked on a guitar before, and between the kit and a how-to online guide, she's in better shape than ever. WORTH IT!
