Purchased two of these based off the description of 1000 to 5000 rpm variable. THEY ARE NOT. When you drop them below or use your temp sensing feature on your motherboard they surge up and down and do not maintain RPMS. Its like they need to be at full speed constantly or they trip and restart. Tried this in 3 different PC'S . One with ASUS motherboard:ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero AMD X670 AM5 Ryzen™ Desktop 9000 8000 & 7000 ATX MotherboardSecond was a MSI motherboard:MSI X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI Gaming Motherboard (AMD Ryzen 9000/8000/7000 Series Processors,Third was a Gigabyte motherboard:GIGABYTE X670 AORUS Elite AX (AM5/ LGA 1718/ AMD/ X670/ ATXAll three had the same issue no matter which chassis fan plug/ CPU plug / or pump plug i put them into they all surged when you put them into a variable speed mode.

Objective was to replace the original three server fans w/ something more powerful. Current fans are the normal 1,500 RPM, 50 CFM. Did some searching on here and found this 5,000 RPM, 203 CFM monster. I was curious if it was really that good and how loud it really is.First impression, this thing is heavy. Much sturdier frame and bigger motor. Holding the fan in my right hand, I plugged the connector to the motherboard and it started spinning up...and it didn't stop. It was screaming like an eagle that was going to rip your face off. The airflow was nothing short of a GE jet engine for the F-15 Eagle. Simply amazing! I will have to lower the fan speed setting in the BIOS if I'm going to have three of these screaming eagles running. It passed the test and quenched my curiosity. I was smiling.I reached into the case to disconnect it. The suction of the fan was so great, that it pulled my shirt into the 5,000 RPM blades, put a hole in it, twisted it and EXPLODED!! Four fan blades were shot across the room like ninja stars. I could've lost an eye!! At first I was a little concerned; but then the smile returned. Heck yeah - I want three more! Yeah, it was worth the $18 to witness the power of this screaming eagle.

I got 2 of these thinking I could run that at minimum speed for 90% of the time and then crank it up with fan curves when needed. Long story short: I regret buying them. They absolutly are very, very powerful fans. They are also very loud. The problem I had was the fans would not maintain speeds lower than about 3000rpm. Using fan control software, and my mobo bios, I dialed back the fan headers to reduce the speed and found that they would turn on at about 40% where they would cycle from between 1000-2800rpm at 3 second intervals. They only maintained a controlled speed when i turned them up to jet engine levels of wind and sound. I really dont know if my motherboard, fan software or the fans themselves are to blame. Oh well, at least they weren't too expensive....I'm going to put them in a box and save them for future projects where sound isnt an issue and I will just run them at high speed.

Good build, and powerful. I experienced the same thing another reviewer did... the suction was so great, as I leaned over to turn it off while testing it out it sucked my tshirt in, broke a blade, and had to purchase a replacement. I'm running 2 of these in my crawlspace - loud at 12V so I run them at 9V...it's been a week of 24/7...no issues yet.

Wouldn't take this fan past 3000 RPM, it can max out at like 5000,5500 RPM but it's LOOOOOOUD, sounds like a fricking jet engine with six turbos. It's ridiculous and will give you a headache. Even at 3000 RPM I've had to get used of the noise. But, if you don't care about how loud it is and just want better air cooling for your PC, it's amazing. I replaced one of the default fans that came with my radiator so it would cool the liquid in the radiator faster and it seems to work just great.

This is the ONLY fan I've found that exceeds the rated speeds. My fan controller detects 5144RPM.Set it to 2000RPM and it is as silent as a Noctura. 5000RPM and its like an Boeing 747 at takeoff.Amazon wont approve my photo upload, but this fan deeply sliced 3 of my fingers when I accidently touched it while running. Fan grill recommended.
