Reasons To Buy+ Is a good entry level solution for people who have outgrown basic soldering irons and want to step up to a station form factor+ The unit itself is easy to use - for the most part, it's a matter of turning the unit on, and setting your desired temperature. In terms of the heat gun and solder skills, that is mostly about repetitions and practice.+ Has a heat gun and a soldering iron+ Heats up very fast+ Independent controls for the master power, soldering iron and heat gun+ Easy to set the temperature+ Very solid construction+ 5 extra soldering tips, 2 sizes of blower tips+ Includes a bunch of handy accessories like tweezers, solder, desoldering pen, desoldering braidNitpicks / Hit or Miss* Some of the warning stickers appear to be machine translated to English and are not as clear as they could be* Things you'll want to buy in addition to this kit (if you don't already have them) are a fume extractor fan with a charcoal filter, and a silicone working mat* The fan hose is a little unwieldyReasons Not To Buy- It's not made by a major brand like Hakko or Weller, so things like support and long term quality may not be comparable.- It is bulky and heavy, especially if you're coming from something like a cheap soldering iron or a pinecil- The main unit has a sizable footprint, so you need quite a bit of space to use it.

I've always wanted a 2 in one station like this to use for electronic repairs. This unit give me an easy way to do both soldering, shrink wrapping and de-soldering using one machine and not taking up too much space. Both the iron and blower heat up very quickly and provide an accurate/maintained level of heat when set. I do wish the iron holder was a bit more built in but that's a minor issue that I can fix with some glue.

We've gotten back into the electronics hobby after a few years of being away and were looking for soldering station with reflow/rework capability so when this station came up to review we jumped at it.Overall: very nice build quality, comparable to what we've seen from big brands like Weller or Hakko. The controls are clear and easy to use though the manual is a bit poorly translated and laid out so it takes some study to figure out what different functions are. Example: to toggle Celcius and Fahrenheit, you have to switch the iron or blower OFF, PRESS the temp dial down (it has a click function, which you'd have to read the manual to know) and hold said dial while flipping the switch to ON. That results in the display showing current units: small "c" or large "F". (you can release the dial once units are displayed) From there, turn the dial to toggle units and wait a few seconds for it to go back to temp.SETUP CAUTION: the unit has a warning sticker on the back near the main power switch that you MUST remove TWO SCREWS on the bottom of the unit that are used to lock the blower fan for transport. These are clearly marked on the bottom of the unit with a gold sticker, in addition to the warning on the power switch. It'd be hard to miss this unless you weren't paying attention. The holder for the hot blower nozzle does a good job keeping it in place - make sure you press it tightly into the wire basket to hold firmly. Similarly, the stand for the iron is well made, stable, and temp-resistent, with lots of room for the sponge and "scouring pad" for cleaning the tips.In use, the hot-air nozzle works well, directs air fairly precisely, and has an interesting safety feature: the fan will continue to run when switched off to help cool the nozzle down more quickly. This is a FEATURE not a glitch! The iron heats up quickly and seems to hold temp reasonably well regardless of tip. (use the right tip for the right job or you're going to be frustrated - IME: you want larger than you think you would for effective transfer of heat - though this isn't specific to this unit)The unit claims to be ESD safe and I have no reason to doubt that so far, working with a few very ESD-sensitive projects. (small radios with SMD DSP chips and discrete components)My one gripe/concern which says nothing about performance and functionality but very much about safety: there are no ETL or CSA (Canadian) safety markings on this unit. Is it safe? Maybe. Realizing there's a cost involved with getting those approvals, I wish the company had invested in that, even if it drove the cost up. Up to you to decide if you can live with that.

This is a very complete set, with iron, cleaning pad, desolder tool, multiple ends, and the heat gun. I didn't check to see how fast the iron heats up; it was quick enough that I didn't think to check. It does it's job, and it's a very convenient station, with multiple digital outputs. If I have a complaint it's that I find the heat gun a little awkward. To be honest, I would prefer a plug in unit that doesn't rely on the included compressor/fan unit. However, it does it's job admirably, it's just my personal preference. This really is a complete station, especially for the beginner and beyond.

Received the first one and was unable to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Digital display produced a code indicating a faulty display or heat issue. Amazon immediately replaced. I have not had a chance to try the new one.

I really needed a hot air rework station. The fact that this Bakon BK701D had a temperature controlled soldering iron was not necessary for me. I already had a Hakko soldering station. But hey it works and it is not too bad.Unfortunately my Bakon station looked like it fell before the manufacturer put it in the box. There was absolutely no damage to any of the Styrofoam or boxes. But I had a dent on the front of the station with blue paint that flaked off. I did bend it with a pliers back into shape. Also a screw fell out of the bottom of the unit, there are two installed for transit. You have to remove them for the air pump to not vibrate against the chassis. The power supply transformer was also loose vibrating against the air pump. So I had to open the cover and tighten everything. This is the reason for three stars. The build quality seems okay inside. The air pump is all plastic and mounted on four rubber damping feet. You can set the temperature readings to Fahrenheit or Celsius by holding both the up and down buttons when the unit is on. It comes with a 120VAC cord of course, a small tube of solder, small roll of solder wick, a desoldering pump, tweezer, two hot air attachments, six soldering tips, and a soldering holder with sponge and brass tip cleaner. It is a good value for the money. Without the damage I would have given it more stars.Update; removed stars. The hot air gun has no standby. When you put the air gun in the hangar/holder it continues to blow hot air. It is extremely dangerous and could cause a fire. It shows that it has a sensor that should put it into a standby mode but it doesn't.

This works well. A nice selection of tips. Sufficient heat range and control. Not a lab grade unit but more than good enough for hobbyist pursuits. My only criticism is that the iron and heat gun do not detach for storage. If it stays on the bench, then no problem. The unit is also somewhat lightweight and the cords could be a bit more supple. Otherwise, I am satisfied. I can do what I need to do with it.

The soldering tool was good but the desoldering heat pump/blower did not work for my application. I got this item to work on Xbox/playstation controllers and couldn’t even do one analog stick removal. I had to use the soldering tool to desolder the stick defeating the purpose of me purchasing this item. So back in the box it goes and back to seller. This might work on regular solder if that’s what you’re working with, but again I didn’t get to try it, so I can’t fully recommend it. I’ll be going back to my 20 dollar soldering stick for now.
