I returned this item because I didn't have a way of torquing it to 250lbs. The traded it for the whole unit factory torqued with no problem.

This fits my small utility trailer and is what I needed. It is hard to find a 1" shaft for a 1-7/8 ball but that is what I needed and thankfully the price was right. You will need a hitch ball wrench and a vise to hold everything in to install this on the tow bar. I torqued it to 200 ft. pounds which was the top limit of my equipment. The lock washer did not fully crush until 175 ft pounds so be aware this takes a lot of uuumph to install properly.

This is one of the most solidly built 1 7/8" trailer balls on the market. I have a few Curt products including a front mount hitch for my GMC pickup. The front hitch is well built also.

It was easy to install. Just make sure you have a two large crescent wrenches (aka tools) before you try to install it.

Great Curt product.Be careful, I bought this by mistake with a ball mount (in the same order), given it was proposed to me with the ball mount with a 3/4 inch holeMost ball mount for 1 1/4 receive will have a 3/4 hole, make sure you buy the appropriate ball regardless of Amazon suggestion that may just be incompatible.Not so sure that people "frequently buy" a 1 inch shank ball to go in a ball mount with a 3/4 hole :)
